2018-Horse-Promises Fulfilled-Betting-OnlineKentucky Derby Betting: Promises Fulfilled is looking to shake off an awful performance at his last race in order to cross the line first at the Kentucky Derby this Saturday.

This horse performed well in the first four races of his career. He won both his maiden and his allowance, and he started to garner some attention after finishing in third place at the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes.

That optimism was doubled after his performance at the Fountain of Youth Stakes in early March. Promises Fulfilled won the race as an 18.2-1 underdog, finishing well ahead of everyone else in the field.

In the wake of that performance, Promises Fulfilled was entered into the more prestigious Florida Derby. This is where he had his worst performance yet, finishing in dead last.

The Kentucky Derby will go to post on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 6:34 p.m. ET at Churchill Downs in Louisville. Catch the Kentucky Derby live on NBC.

The illustrious Shackleford is the sire of Promises Fulfilled. Shackleford won the 2011 Preakness Stakes and some other big stakes races, but as of yet his progeny have not been very successful. Promises Fulfilled is the stud’s best horse to date. His dam is Marquee Delivery.

Dale Romans is taking Promises Fulfilled to the Derby as the trainer. Romans is also taking Free Drop Billy here, so these two horses will be his ninth and tenth entrants. He has two third-place finishes to his credit with Paddy O’Prado in 2010 and Dullahan in 2012.

The jockey for Promises Fulfilled is Corey Lanerie. Lanerie is making his fourth trip to the Derby and he will be looking to make the Winner’s Circle after finishing runner-up on Lookin At Lee last year.

Why Promises Fulfilled Will Win the Kentucky Derby

This horse can move. If he gets a clean run out of the gate, he is going to head for the front and try to lead the whole way. It’s tough to win wire-to-wire, but it’s possible for him since there aren’t many great closers in this field. He posted a speed rating of 104 at the Fountain of Youth Stakes, making him a horse to consider.

Why Promises Fulfilled Won't Win the Kentucky Derby

His last outing was utterly dreadful. He ran out of gas right coming into the final turn and just couldn’t keep up with the rest of the pack. There’s a good chance this happens here too and Lukas may want to use Promises Fulfilled as more of a rabbit than anything else.

The Final Verdict

Promises Fulfilled isn’t going to be able to make a difference at the Derby. He won’t be able to go the distance and will run out of gas. There are better longshots out there to wager on.
