Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf
Part of what makes the Breeders’ Cup the legitimate "world championships" of horse racing is because it brings together thoroughbreds from every corner of the globe to race against each other. The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf race is one of those that feature horses from all over the place. American fillies aren't always expected to ultimately compete with some of the best two-year old turfers from Canada and from the other side of the pond in Europe. But that's what makes this race one of the true melting pots of the best weekend of horse racing on the calendar.
This is the second of the major races which make up the Breeders' Cup, and it will take place on Friday, November 1 at Santa Anita Park. Horse racing fans can see all of the action live on NBC Sports Network. Post-time is scheduled for 4:52 p.m. ET

2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Field and Notes
The European shippers have won just two of these races, but it is worth noting both of those wins came at Santa Anita. The 2019 race looks to be wide open, as no horse should go off with odds of less than 4-1. Love for trainer Aiden O’Brien could end up as the favorite, as the horse won the Moyglare Stud to qualify for this race.
If Love doesn’t go off as the favorite then it could be Albigna gets the nod. This is another European import and she has multiple group stakes wins. Another horse who should be in the mix for the role of favorite is Daahyeh who has two group stakes wins in Europe.
There are a number of darkhorse contenders including Sweet Melania for trainer Todd Pletcher, Selflessly for trainer Chad Brown and Crystalle for trainer John Kimmel.
Longshots in the race include Abscond, Cambria, Fair Maiden, Jezebel’s Kitten, Living in the Past, Powerful Breeze, Sharing, Tango, Warren’s Showtime, Walk in Marrakesh and Yesterdayoncemore.
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Qualification
Once an ungraded stakes race, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf has quickly risen from a Grade 2 race to a Grade 1 outing. Five of the 14 spots in the field are reserved for those who win the following "Win and You're In" races over the course of the year.

The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf is one of the many races as a part of this two-day spectacle in which there are a slew of non-American horses. Three of the automatic qualifiers are European racers, while Woodbine will also send a horse, often a Canadian-bred filly to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf as well. The other nine slots are made up from qualifiers who have the best results in previous races, though often, this field doesn't end up reaching the full 14 because of the unpredictable nature of two-year old racers.

Obviously since this is a two-year old juvenile race, there has never been (and never will be) a repeat winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The only multiple time winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in any respect is trainer Chad Brown. Brown won the first ever Breeders' Cup Juvenile Filles Turf race with Maram, then backed that up with Lady Eli's record-setting run in 2014. He has also won the last three races, upping his total wins to five.
Two of the nine winners of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf have been international fillies. Flotilla was the first to pull off the trick in 2012, and she was closely followed by Chriselliam the next year.
