2021 Wimbledon Women’s Tennis Betting

Simona Halep will defend her Wimbledon Championship title, but she is not the favorite in 2021 Wimbledon odds, as that honor goes to World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty who is listed at odds of +700. Serena Williams, who has won the Wimbledon title a total of seven times, is the second choice at odds of +750. Unlike the men’s side, where there are very few contenders, there are 11 women listed at odds of less than 20-1. Let’s look at the 2021 Wimbledon event on the women’s side, Wimbledon odds and Wimbledon picks.

Top Contenders

You can almost throw a net around the top eight contenders at Wimbledon for 2021. Barty is the favorite, but at odds of +700 she is not a clear choice to win. Serena is the second choice, but who knows what we will get out of her. You can really go eight deep for top contenders. Garbine Muguruza, Iga Swiatek, Bianca Andreescu, Petra Kvitova, Halep and Sofia Kenin are all listed with odds less than 14-1.

Barty is the top ranked player in the world and she said she prefers grass over all other surfaces. The problem with backing Barty is her health, as she hurt her hip at the French Open and this is a very short turnaround to recover from any type of injury.

Serena finished runner-up in 2018 and in 2019 but she was no real threat to win against Angelique Kerber or Halep. Serena hasn’t even played a grass match in two years so you take her at your own risk.

Muguruza is a former champion but she has a thigh problem that caused her trouble on clay. The good news for her is that she did look really good at Berlin recently, so she might be the best choice among the favorites.

Swiatek was the Wimbledon junior champion in 2018 so we know she can play well on grass. She won her first Grand Slam title at the French Open last year so she can handle the big stage.

Andreescu did nothing at the French Open, losing in the first round and then split with her long-time coach. It is hard to get too excited about taking her.

Kvitova has won Wimbledon twice but there are concerns about her health, as she is battling an ankle injury.

Halep is the defending champ but she missed the French Open with a calf injury. There are serious questions as to how fit she is for this tournament.

Kenin didn’t play at Eastbourne which is a key Wimbledon prep, so that is a bit concerning and she doesn’t present a lot of value at odds of 14-1.

Longshots

You can make a case for taking a longshot on the women’s side. Aryna Sabalenka is highly ranked but still going under the radar. She hasn’t had any success at the slams, but she has a big serve and her time is coming. I would have preferred odds of more than 18-1, but we take what we can get. I have to throw in Coco Gauff at odds of 20-1. She was just 15-years old when she wowed everyone at Wimbledon two years ago. She made the fourth round then and she could be a serious threat this time around.

Wimbledon Picks

It is really a matter of throwing darts on the women’s side, as there are far too many injury issues to know who is going to be a full strength. I’ll go with Muguruza at odds of 10-1 and Gauff at odds of 20-1.
