2016-Soccer-USMNT-vs.-St.-Vincent-Odds

Jurgen Klinsmann knows that these next two matches are going to decide his fate as the future manager of the USA Men's National Soccer team. Should the Americans not secure at least enough points to reach the last round of qualifying for the World Cup, Klinsmann will surely be given his walking papers. First up is a date with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday night, a team which has already been eliminated from World Cup contention and will be hoping to play the role of spoiler.

This World Cup Qualifying duel will go down Friday, September 2, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Arnos Vale Stadium. The match will be televised live on beIN Sports.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Odds Analysis

Considering the fact that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines doesn't have a single point and has been outscored by 16 goals in four World Cup qualifying matches in this group, there isn't really a question as to who is going to win this match. The question is by how many goals the Yanks will take it by.

The fact of the matter is that this is just a warm-up match for the clash against Trinidad & Tobago early next week, as that's the fixture which will very likely truly determine who will end up going through to the Hexagonal.

Tournament Update

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines wasn't expected to get overrun in this group with Guatemala, T&T and the USA, and that has been the case. The closest result for the club was a 3-2 loss at home to Trinidad. Since that point, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has also done poorly in Caribbean Cup qualifying, losing to both Suriname and Saint Kitts and Nevis to end up getting eliminated from that tournament as well.

The Yanks haven't been good in qualifying, but they've put themselves in a position to ultimately get the job done and reach the Hex. They took three points from two games with Guatemala and drew with Trinidad while beating Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the first go-around with these teams in America. The United States needs to secure at least a total of six points between what it gains and what Guatemala drops over the course of these next two games to finish second best, though winning both of these matches will win the group as was always expected to be the case.

Roster Analysis

The big problem Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has is that it just doesn't have any legitimate superstars on the team. The biggest threat is 20-year old Oalex Anderson who is under contract to MLS squad Seattle Sounders, but aside from that, few have ventured outside of the islands, and none could legitimately play on any of the big American, European or South American teams.

Brad Guzan figures to once again be the first-team choice at keeper for the Americans. Omar Gonzalez is back in defense after being left off of the Copa America team, and he'll be joined by some combination of John Brooks, DeAndre Yedlin and Geoff Cameron. With Jermaine Jones likely out for this match at least, that leaves a hole to be filled alongside Michael Bradley and Alejandro Bedoya. This roster is setting up for the use of both Darlington Nagbe and Christian Pulisic as attacking midfielders. Clint Dempsey has a sore back and won't be on this roster, and that leaves Bobby Wood and Jozy Altidore to likely play at the top of the formation.

The Americans are just too strong here, and we think they're going to take a no-nonsense approach to this match by putting it away early. Though we could see some caution heeded in the dying moments of this one, the United States knows that goals are going to end up being incredibly helpful in the run towards the top of this group. There will be plenty of them to go around, especially if a younger lineup ends up on the pitch full of hungry guys eager to make their first ever impact on the team.

World Cup Qualifying Odds: USA 6, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 0
