Soccer Odds - Tottenham vs. West Ham Match Preview

Tottenham-vs.-West-Ham-bm

There's no secret to the fact that Tottenham and West Ham flat out don't like each other, and the fact that they're separated by a dozen spots in the EPL table after 11 matches definitely lends itself to the Spurs wanting to pile on. The Hammers need some wins in a hurry, but they're going to have to figure out how to put the ball in the back of the net at some point to do so, something Slaven Bilic is hoping he's figured out how to fix during the international break.

Don't miss the EPL action from White Hart Lane at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 19, 2016. Catch every moment of the match live on NBC Sports Network.

Odds Analysis

Perhaps two months ago or so, we'd be having a different discussion about the betting line for this game. Tottenham would obviously be favored, but certainly not by a full goal on the Asian Handicap and a -192 margin on the moneyline. But it's just so hard to trust the Hammers right now with their season already hanging in the balance at only a third complete.

The total of 3, even with -138 vig on the under is relatively high, and it certainly is made to feel higher by the fact that the Spurs have only seen a total of 21 goals scored for and against in their 11 matches this year, while West Ham is sitting at just 31 through 11 fixtures.

Key Injuries

The big problem West Ham has is that it just can't find any offensive weapons right now. Andy Carroll is still out with a hamstring injury, and Diafra Sakho still hasn't played yet this year. Mark Noble has been suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the year, while both Arthur Masuaku and Sam Byram are both out as well.

Tottenham is playing without Erik Lamela thanks to a hip injury, while Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld are both out as well for at least a few more weeks. There are some other questions that have to be answered on the injury front as well. Moussa Dembele, Christian Eriksen, Hugo Lloris and Danny Rose are all hoping to play, but all four of them are definitely up in the air with various injuries.

Recent Form

Tottenham's last match before the international break was a successful 1-1 draw against Arsenal. Prior to that though, the team played two straight under matches as well against Beyer Leverkusen and Leicester City at home. The Spurs have been saddled with four straight draws in Premier League play, and that's put them in a tough spot in terms of getting back in the EPL title race in spite of the fact that they are the only team that hasn't been beaten yet this year.

West Ham has been steadily dropping down the table in the Premier League, and losing to Everton and drawing Stoke City really didn't help that cause at all. How much longer does Bilic really have to turn this ship around? That's a big question.

The total is incredibly tough to judge in this game, but we're going to go with our gut and go for the over. There's just no justification for the number to be this high, but it seems like someone knows something.

But are the goals going to be coming from the Hammers? That's even harder to see from a pure handicapping standpoint. They have just 11 goals in 11 matches, and getting more than one in this one at the Lane is just too hard to imagine. But is a 3-1 final score with Harry Kane having a big performance for the Spurs out of the question? Certainly not.

EPL Odds: Tottenham 3, West Ham 1
