Soccer Odds - Tottenham vs. Southampton Match Preview

2016-BPL-Tottenham-Vs-Southampton-Betting-Odds

Even though Tottenham was officially eliminated from title contention last week, its fans should really still be celebrating what has been a fantastic season. They might not be celebrating an EPL title in the finale at White Hart Lane on Saturday, but a victory which secures a spot in the group stage of the Champions League next season will surely be a pretty good consolation prize.

Don't forget though, that Southampton still believes it has an outside shot of reaching the Europa League with wins in these final two matches and won't be a total pushover.

ODDS ANALYSIS

It's basically a toss-up as to whether Tottenham will get all three points from this game or not. The Spurs are set at -106 on the moneyline, and though their fans will certainly be expecting three points, it's not a given by any stretch of the imagination with as well as Southampton has shown it's capable of playing.

The total in this match is rather high at 2.5 and -132 vig on the over, though that's to be expected at the end of the season when most of the pressure is already off.

KEY INJURIES

Injuries really aren't a huge problem for either of these sides right now. Southampton has a clean bill of health at the moment, and Tottenham's biggest problem comes on the suspension front with Dele Alli out for the rest of the year after taking a red card against West Brom a couple weeks ago.

Nabil Bentaleb probably won't be risked again this season with a knee injury which has already cost him the last six weeks, while Danny Rose must be reevaluated prior to this game after suffering a hamstring injury on Monday against Chelsea.

LIVE BETTING

Saido Mane and the Saints offense have been on point of late. Mane had a hat trick against Manchester City in a 4-2 romp, the same score line which Southampton beat Aston Villa by the week prior. The Saints have now won three of their last four and are 5-1-1 in their last seven overall. The only loss in the bunch? A 1-0 defeat at champion Leicester City.

The Spurs tried their best to keep up with the Foxes, but to no avail. They've drawn their last two matches against Chelsea and West Brom, and that effectively ended their title hopes after a really nice run of four wins in five EPL matches to at least keep the pressure on Leicester City.

QUICK PICK

You wonder what type of hangover Tottenham will have now that it has been eliminated from title contention. The team didn't look sharp down the stretch at Stamford Bridge and gave up the goal which ultimately cost it any chance at the title, and now, it has to come back home to play against one of the hottest teams in the league.

Fortunately for the Spurs, a draw will be enough in this one to lock up a coveted Top 3 spot. Unfortunately for Southampton, that won't be enough to keep European hopes alive for next year.

Neither side though, will be hanging heads after this match. Both teams have a lot of firepower offensively, and with the way these two units have been going of late, we wouldn't doubt either one getting three or four in the bag.

Instead, we'll split the spoils here with Mane once again continuing on his rampage and getting himself yet another brace against the two for the Spurs.
