Soccer Odds - Norwich City vs. Liverpool Match Preview

Norwich-City-vs-Liverpool-Picks20

Norwich City is making more moves in the transfer season than any other team in the Premier League as it continues on its quest for survival for a second season in the top flight. Matches like the one at home against Liverpool aren't really supposed to be won, but they're generally the difference between the clubs which survive and the ones which get dropped into the Championship.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Norwich has to be the underdog in this match in spite of all of its changes, but the fact that it's basically a 50/50 proposition as to whether it gets a point or not is a testament to the team which Alex Neil has built this term.

The Reds are set at -105 on the moneyline alongside one of the lower totals of the EPL weekend at 2.5 and -130 vig on the under.

KEY INJURIES

Injuries aren't the problem right now for Norwich. The question which Neil will have for sure is who is going to be available for other various reasons. Four players are brand new to the grounds at Carrow Road, but with Gary O'Neil suspended for three matches after picking up a red card two weeks ago and Andre Wisdom banned from this one due to the fact that he's on loan from Liverpool, there are sure to be holes in the lineup.

Liverpool's injury list is still quite extensive. We still have no real end in sight to the injuries for Daniel Sturridge, Martin Skrtel, Jordan Rossiter, Danny Ings and Philippe Coutinho, though the Reds have done their best to overcome what is literally a team full of injuries.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"First of all, what we have to do is create chances, and that is what we are doing in this moment. The next step is to make the right decision in the right moment. That's what we did not do often enough, I said that after the Manchester United game." – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on the mistakes which are being made in the Reds' midfield

RECENT FORM

Norwich is still out of the danger zone for the moment, but recent form has to be a major concern. The Canaries have conceded three times in each of their last three matches, losing by an aggregate of 9-1 to Manchester City, Stoke City and Bournemouth.

Liverpool hasn't exactly been in fine form either. The Reds were beaten last week by Manchester United in a drab 1-0 affair, and they blew a shot at more than just a point in a 3-3 draw at home against Arsenal. That came on the heels of a 2-2 draw against Exeter City in the FA Cup, and it's why Liverpool has to play against the League 2 side once again on Wednesday in a replay before heading to Carrow Road.

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

Norwich's defensive concerns are legitimate, and that's why the club has brought in both Timm Klose and a defense-minded Steven Naismith in the transfer season. Those two men are going to have to work hard just to be available in this match, and we think there's going to be some confusion for sure.

That said, Neil is running out of options and is going to have to make sure his team plays more sound defense, something that we don't think is going to happen here in this match against Liverpool. The Reds have too much firepower up front, and we suspect that Christian Benteke will get his name on the scoring sheet in this one perhaps twice in a romp to make up for a 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier this year.

Liverpool 4, Norwich City 1
