Soccer Odds - Manchester City vs. Everton Match Preview

2016-Manchester-City-vs-Everton-Betting-Online

Manchester City enters the second half of the season three points back of the top of the table in the Premier League. The Citizens though, have to feel pretty good knowing that Manchester United and Chelsea are basically out of the way at this point. Match Day 21 for Man City is at home against Everton, a match which surely should end in three points for the hosts.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Manchester City is a -190 favorite in this match, and it's laying a full goal on the Asian Handicap. The Toffees are fairly massive 5 to 1 underdogs, and it would be a huge shock for them to ultimately pull off the three points at the Ethiad.

The total almost has to be ridiculously high in this match knowing that Everton games have averaged 3.25 goals per match, while Manchester City matches have averaged exactly three goals per fixture. That's why the total in this one is set at a flat three with the over set at -125.

KEY INJURIES

City played it relatively safe in the FA Cup on Saturday against Norwich City, using about half of a normal lineup. Manchester City got out of the third round at Carrow Road without any issues, and that leaves just Vincent Kompany and Samir Nasri up in the air on this short week.

Everton lost Romelu Lukaku to an ankle injury in the Capital One Cup last week. There's a decent chance that he'll be back this week after sitting out of the FA Cup over the weekend. Bryan Oviedo is a different story, as is James McCarthy. These two crucial players will both likely be out of the fold, and that's going to make life really difficult on the visitors.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"Manchester City are just another team that needs to be beaten and standing in our way of achieving the ambition of lifting a trophy for Everton. The last two years of my career at Everton, I want to win a trophy." – Everton captain Gareth Barry on playing against Man City in the Capital One Cup last week

RECENT FORM

These two teams know all about each other after they met in the Capital One Cup last week. Everton knocked off Man City 2-1 in the first of a two-legged affair, and the teams will meet again on January 27 in the second leg right here at the Ethiad.

City hasn't been in great form, though a 3-0 win at Norwich City on Saturday in the FA Cup was quite clinical. The Citizens have just two wins in their last four EPL matches overall.

Everton has played four straight matches at home and actually hasn't left Goodison Park since December 26. The Toffees are 2-1-1 in those four matches. Their last road test was a win at Newcastle, but this is a significantly harder challenge

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

There's a big difference between the team which was on the field for the Capital One Cup and the one which will be out there in the middle of the week for Manchester City.

These midweek games with crowded fixtures usually end up showing just how dominant the top-tier teams are in the EPL, and we don't think this is going to be an exception. The Citizens haven't been nearly as dominant as they figured to be this year, but we still think they're going to walk out of the Ethiad and into the weekend as comfortable two-goal winners.

Manchester City 2, Everton 0
