Soccer Odds - Liverpool vs. Manchester United Match Preview

2016-Liverpool-vs.-Manchester-United-Betting-Lines

It's really hard to find any truly elite matchups in the Premier League in Match Day 8, but the way things are ending on Monday night is going to be a blast. Liverpool and Manchester United have grown more and more hatred for one another over the years, and this Monday night throw down could be a huge six-point swing one way or the other for two legitimate contenders to the Premier League throne in 2016-17.

At 3 p.m. ET, tune into NBC Sports Network for live television coverage of this Premier League match on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Anfield.

Manchester United +266

Odds Analysis

As is almost always the case in these matches between these top tier teams, the home team is favored by a wide enough margin to be considered sizeable but not such a wide margin to be considered a safe choice for three points. Liverpool is holding form at +105 on the moneyline, and that makes it just less than 50/50 that it'll get the job done versus Man U stealing at least one point.

The Red Devils are +266 on the moneyline and are -125 favorites to get at least a share of the spoils.

The total of 2.5 with -130 vig on the over is becoming the new normal in England and isn't surprising.

Key Injuries

The injury news is generally good for Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren. These two crucial pieces to the puzzle were both injured just before the international break against Swansea, but both are back in training and should be a go for the full 90 if need be for Jurgen Klopp.

The Red Devils meanwhile, really don't have anything to worry about. Finally, after a long absence, Henrikh Mkhitaryan should be back from his thigh injury this week, and though Luke Shaw has been ill of late, that's merely a minor inconvenience that he should be able to play through. Phil Jones is going to miss another week or two, but he's been out for a while with a knee problem.

Recent Form

For a team with all sorts of attacking options, Manchester United sure hasn't looked the part of late. The team drew Stoke City 1-1 in its last EPL match before World Cup qualifiers took over, and that came after a 1-0 win over Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League.

Liverpool meanwhile, has had five straight victories across all competitions. The 2-1 win at Swansea City was a big victory that helped bring this team back into the Top 4. The Reds are only two points back of Manchester City atop the table, and they've only played two matches at home to date.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

Liverpool has outscored teams 9-2 at home thus far this year, and you can already tell that Klopp is putting a lot of stock in this match, especially with a basically healthy team at this point.

Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge are all great offensive options, and having back Lallana is only going to help out as well. Sadio Mane and James Milner are both in reasonable form as well, and that's what's really making Liverpool go.

With all of the struggles Manchester United has had offensively, especially with the way Wayne Rooney is out of form, there are still a lot of questions to answer. The Red Devils will get there, but we don't think they're quite there yet. If they aren't planning on scoring multiple goals in this game though, they're probably planning on leaving Anfield without even a single point. We have no doubt that Liverpool is going to get out of this match with at least a couple goals, and that should end in three points.

Premier League Odds: Liverpool 3, Manchester United 1
