Liverpool has already made one really strong statement this year in the Premier League when it was able to go on the road and beat Arsenal to start the season. Odds Analysis

By right, Liverpool absolutely needs to be the favorite in this game. The Reds have the better of the two teams by talent, but Leicester still has that allure of the winning the championship last year out of nowhere a campaign ago.

Still, have the Foxes dropped so far that they don't deserve to even be a 4 to 1 choice on the moneyline in this match? They're +425, while Liverpool is the odds-on choice at -153 and is favored by a full goal on the Asian Handicap.

The total of 2.5 and -135 vig on the over tells the tale of a match that could end up with at least three or four goals.

Key Injuries

Liverpool still has some injury issues lingering from the start of the campaign, but none of them have been all that bothersome yet. Joseph Gomez is going to get back in the fold sooner rather than later to bolster this defense, while Mamadou Sakho is still going through an Achilles injury. Sakho is the far more important name of the bunch for Klopp to get back in the lineup, but again, finding the back of the net hasn't been a major concern even without him.

Leicester City's biggest concern is that of keeper Kasper Schmeichel. He's got a hernia right now that might keep him out of the fold in this match.

Recent Form

It had to feel good for Leicester City to beat Swansea 2-1 in the last match before the international break. The Foxes had just one point to show for their first two fixtures, and they had lost the Community Shield to Manchester United, but to both get that first win and get Jamie Vardy onto the scoring sheet for the first time this season were both big accomplishments.

Liverpool has had its ups and downs, something which is sure to be expected for a club that doesn't quite feel complete yet. Ironically though, the worst result was the road game at Burnley, a club that has just gotten promoted to the top flight. Aside from that 2-0 blunder, Liverpool drew 1-1 with Tottenham and beat Arsenal on the road.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

This is a big day for the Reds, as it's their first match of the season at Anfield after playing four straight on the road, including in the Capital One Cup against Burton Albion. There are some really high hopes this season after the team was a legit Top 4 club in the second half of the year and the great run in the Europa Cup to the finale, and so far, we've seen some really good results as well.

Simply put, it's a match that has to be won. The Reds are the odds on favorites for a reason. Leicester City has come back to earth just a bit, and though we don't exactly think this team is going to get relegated this season, it's not a top half team as we see it. If that's the case, we've got great value on backing Liverpool, even at a relatively chalky price.

BPL Odds: Liverpool 2, Leicester City 1
