Soccer Odds - Everton vs. Manchester United Match Preview

Everton-vs.-Manchester-United-bm

The pressure on Jose Mourinho is immense. He's only got 20 points in his first 13 matches with Manchester United, and that's just not cutting it for the fans at Old Trafford. Of course, Mourinho won't have to worry about this next match against Everton, because he's been suspended by the FA and won't be on the touchline.

This BPL duel will go down Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. ET at Goodison Park. The match will be televised live on NBC Sports Network.

Odds Analysis

If you took the crests off the fronts of the uniforms in red, you probably wouldn't think that this mythical team with 20 points in 13 matches should be favored on the road against a team in the middle of the table. However, with the name Manchester City comes a lot of vig, and that's the problem here.

The Red Devils aren't odds-on favorites here, but they are +110, and the oddsmakers are basically trying to get you to believe this is really a 50/50 proposition between them getting three points and not getting three points.

The total of 2.5 and -120 vig on the under is relatively low at this level, though a year ago, this would have been a relatively average number.

Key Injuries

Not only is the boss for the Red Devils suspended for this match, but so too is Wayne Rooney. Eric Bailly has a knee injury that is going to keep him out for at least one more week, and Chris Smalling will be out for at least another week or two as well.

James McCarthy is the big question mark in this match for Everton. The team's captain has had a hamstring problem that just keeps coming up. He was expected to be ready for this match, but now, he's really more of a question mark than anything else. One has to wonder if Ronald Koeman is going to have to be without his captain for a really long period of time.

Recent Form

Manchester United has been a bit bipolar of late. The team beat up West Ham in the EFL Cup 4-1 on Wednesday, but that match came with more than a few reserves in the fold. The last time said reserves were on the pitch came against Feyenoord, a 4-0 victory. But with the leaders on the pitch, the Red Devils have been held to 1-1 draws of late against West Ham and Arsenal at home. This team only has one win its last five Premier League matchups.

Everton has just one goal in its last three matches, that coming in a 1-1 draw against Swansea City on November 19. But dating back to just before the November international break, the Toffees have just that one point in their last three fixtures, getting outscored 7-1 in that span.

Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera make up a fantastic midfield, and with Rooney suspended for this match, this lineup should be a little bit more open. The Red Devils are faster and have shown flashes of some real brilliance offensively, particularly when Zlatan Ibrahimovic is at his best.

But there's just no way we can bet on this team at +110 when Everton is just a point in the rearview mirror of the Red Devils. The Toffees haven't lost yet at home this season, and we don't think they're doing so in this match either. In fact, don't be all that surprised, especially if McCarthy does make a triumphant return, if this match ends in three emotionally charged points for the hosts.

BPL Odds: Everton 2, Manchester United 1
