The English Premier League has taken yet another odd twist, as there are two massive teams in Chelsea and Liverpool who are still residing outside of the Top 5 by huge margins. That's left things wide open for the rest of the teams at the top, as we are a third of the way through the season and clear packs have been formed.

Chelsea Singing the Blues

What type of odds could you have gotten three months ago on Jose Mourinho getting sacked at Stamford Bridge? It's clear that the Portuguese man is on his way out the door if he can't get things turned around in a hurry. The Blues might be in fine shape in the Champions League, but here in the Premier League, they are sitting on just 11 points in 12 matches, 15 shy of Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table and just three points clear of Bournemouth and the relegation zone.

Surely, Chelsea can't get this turned around in time to mount a serious challenge to the title. No team has ever rallied back from this far down to win the Premier League, especially not with this many teams to hop this deep into the season. Even if the Blues won out the rest of the way, they'd still be on just 83 points. No team has won the English title with fewer than 86 points since the 2010-11 season when Manchester United put together the feat at 23-11-4.

Even a price of 80 to 1 isn't good enough for us to want to back Mourinho's side for the rest of the year.

Premier League Essentially just Two Team Race

For all who want to hem and haw over the depth of the Premier League, that's all fine and dandy, but it's clear to us that there are only two teams who have any serious chance of winning a title this year.

Manchester United is a flawed side with major problems in attack. Louis van Gaal might get some of these issues worked out, but in reality, the club is grasping for straws even in matches at home against poor teams like West Brom. Sure, the schedule is loose for the Red Devils in the coming months, and they won't be pups in a fixture again until perhaps an away fixture with Liverpool in the middle of January. Still, they don't stand a chance to last the rest of the season.

This chase is down to Arsenal and Manchester City. The Citizens have fallen off just a bit after their hot start to the year, but they've still got the most talent in England and can go make some moves in January if need be at the transfer window. That's why they're the -110 favorites to ultimately claim yet another championship.

The Gunners though, are still young and are improving with each passing week. They've got the best away record in the Premier League at 5-0-1, and they're +9 in doing so. Not even mighty Manchester City can make such a claim at this point.

Leicester City Sticking Around

The Foxes might be just a point back in the Premier League chase a third of the way into the campaign, and they might have the most points of any team in England over the course of the last 20 matches or so, but these middling teams at best just don't ultimately have staying power for a full season.

Claudio Ranieri deserves all the credit in the world for bringing a team which seemed destined for the drop 30 matches into the season last year all the way up to challenge at the top of the table, but let's be realistic here. The time is going to come when Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, who have combined for 19 goals this year in the Premier League, are going to come back to earth. When that happens, Leicester City will fall as a result. There's a reason the field is still 150 to 1 to win the Premier League, something which is notable considering the fact that fifth place Tottenham is a part of the field as well.
