ODDS ANALYSIS

Wolfsburg knows that it has to go for it in this match against Los Blancos. The team is going to be best when it goes forward and tries to get at least one or two in the back of the net. That said, if that's how this one is played, that'll leave Real Madrid all the room in the world to operate with its fantastic attackers.

The total in this match is set at 3 and -126 vig on the under. It's a really high total for sure, especially for the first leg of a home-and-home series.

Real Madrid is favored by a relatively slender -144 margin on the road. The Galacticos are sure to be the favorite to get into the semifinals, but this is a dangerous match on German soil for sure.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

Real Madrid has seven wins in eight tries in the Champions League this year, and it never had a shot of losing against AS Roma in the last 16. Los Galacticos won each of the two legs against Roma by 2-0 margins, and there was never a point that they were threatened by their Italian rivals.

Wolfsburg was always a lot better than KAA Gent in the last 16 of the UCL. Sure the Wolves were up 3-0 on the road on Belgian soil before coughing up a couple goals, but they came back home to Volkswagen Arena and won 1-0 to move on by a 4-2 aggregate. That said, this is a big challenge for a team which is only eighth on the table in the Bundesliga and has no chance to play European soccer next season unless it happens to win this tournament.

RECENT FORM

Real Madrid has six wins in a row to its ledger, the most important of which was the 2-1 win on the road at Camp Nou in El Clasico against Barcelona. It was the crowning achievement for Los Galaticos of the season as we see it, and it kept their slim chances of winning La Liga this year alive.

Wolfsburg can't really get anything going domestically. The team was beaten over the weekend by Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, and that came on the heels of a draw against Darmstadt and a loss at Hoffenheim, results which seem to be inexcusable for clubs playing at this level.

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

Since the draw came out pitting these two teams against each other, Dieter Hecking has tried to get his side to believe that it belongs on this pitch against Real Madrid.

Unfortunately, losing Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City last summer has taken away a lot of the luster of this team.

The Wolves just don't have the talent here to get the job done. Sure, Nicklas Bendter and Andre Schurrle will have their moments, but we're not all that sure they'd be better options than any of the ones Real Madrid trot out onto the pitch.

The fun and games end here for Wolfsburg for sure. Cristiano Ronaldo is in fantastic form after his brilliant goal in El Clasico, and he and Karim Benzema have combined for 17 goals in just eight matches in the UCL. We see no reason why Los Galaticos won't put at least two on the board in this one, and we aren't sure Wolfsburg can keep up.
