Soccer Odds - Manchester City vs. Dynamo Kiev Match Preview

2016-Manchester-City-vs-Dynamo-Kyiv

Manchester City has had a relatively terrible season in the Premier League. However, the year can still be considered a success if it can win the Champions League. Tuesday's game against Dynamo Kiev should end up being uneventful, knowing that the Citizens already have a 3-1 lead in this home-and-home tie and are headed back home.

ODDS ANALYSIS

City was dominant in the first matchup between these two teams in Ukraine, winning 3-1. It only needs to keep its net relatively clean in this match to get through. Kiev is going to have to score three times at minimum, something that hardly anyone has the capability to do against a team this good.

Man City is expected to once again win this match. The Citizens are -190 on the moneyline and are a flat one-goal favorite on the Asian Handicap.

Goals could be at a premium in this game if Manuel Pellegrini decides to play this one close to the vest. Still, the total is relatively high at 2.5 and -128 vig on the over.

THE FIRST MEETING

One look at the raw stats, and you'd think that the game between these two a couple weeks ago was pretty close. Dynamo Kiev was only -1 in the shot department and -2 in terms of shots on goal. Possession was virtually level, while Kiev had six corners against three for Manchester City.

However, there was no doubt where the quality ultimately sat. Sergio Aguero and David Silva were spot on with their finishing with spectacular goals to open up the ledger for the Premier League side. Vitaliy Buyalsky did pull one back for the hosts to give them a shot, but Yaya Toure made sure this affair was effectively over with the third goal for the Citizens.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"It is not finished, but playing away and having a two-goal lead is very good. The team played well and had lots of chances. Maybe when it was 2-1 we had moments of doubt, but then we got the third goal. Is the tie settled? No. It is important in football to never think it is finished. But to have that third goal gives us more confidence for the second leg." – Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini following the win in snowy Kiev in the first leg

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

If Kiev is going to get back into this match, it's going to need a goal in the first 10 minutes or so to put some pressure on the Citizens. They've collapsed at times and have been pressed by lesser teams than this. If you like Dynamo Kiev, you certainly want to make that bet early on. If you like Man City though, live betting might be the safer way to go with it. The odds won't change a ton in the first 10 minutes, but that's the breaking point for Kiev as we see it.

In the first leg, Andriy Yarmolenko put a tremendous blast on target that Joe Hart punched away. That was probably the best chance Dynamo Kiev had of taking a lead that it might not have given back.

In the end of the second leg though, we just don't see a lot of progress being made by either team. We'd ere on the side of taking the goal with Dynamo Kiev, but the under is the better bet in our eyes. We just don't see City caring to go forward enough to score three times, and there's a point that Kiev will know that its fate is sealed.
