Real Madrid, Inter Milan meet for second straight season in International Champions Cup on FS1 Monday

Internazionale-vs-Real-Madrid.ar

Last season, Inter Milan took care of Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

This year, the two clubs are going to be facing off with one another yet again, this time in Guangzhou, where there should be a massive Real contingent to support the team.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Just based upon the betting lines we have seen so far in the International Champions Cup, this will end up being a relatively close game for betting purposes.

On Saturday, Inter Milan is a very slight +125 favorite against hated rivals AC Milan, and we suspect that Real Madrid will be a favorite of about that magnitude when the ball kicks off on Monday morning.

Real Madrid is just barely an odds on favorite at -105 against Manchester City in what could be the highlight match of the International Champions Cup.

The other factor here with the International Champions Cup is that totals are relatively high. We have seen a ton of goals in this preseason tournament to date, so don't be surprised if the number in this game ends up surfacing at least at three goals, if not even higher.

The number to beat is only 2.5 in the Inter Milan vs. AC Milan match, but the figure is sitting at a flat 3 between Real Madrid and Manchester City. If these opening fixtures for these teams end up flying past the total, Monday's bout could be the same way as well. Expect to need four goals to cash an over bet in this one.

RECENT FORM

This tournament began for Inter Milan against Bayern Munich, and though the team was beaten 1-0, Roberto Mancini had to be a relatively happy man with the result, particularly with his first-team players.

Real Madrid began the International Champions Cup against AS Roma, and immediately, Rafael Benitez got himself in a lot of hot water in his first match with the team. It's not really so much that Real was beaten in penalty kicks. It's the fact that the team didn't score a goal in 120 minutes. Yes, the reserves spent much of the game on the pitch, but there was enough talent here that the Madrid side should have put at least one in the back of the net.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

Last year, these two teams met in the International Champions Cup, a fixture which ended 1-1 at the Rose Bowl.

Something isn't right at the moment about Real Madrid coming into this year. Sure, the Karim Benzema saga seems to be said and done with, as he is staying with the club, but Cristiano Ronaldo isn't all that happy with the Benitez hiring. There's only a small shot for him to be on the move before the end of the transfer season, but the fact that the face of this team is even the slightest bit disgruntled is troublesome.

Inter Milan has itself a consistent team which plays organized ball, and though men like Mauro Icardi, Rodrigo Palacio and Razvan Popa haven't really acquitted themselves up front yet, organization at the back is going to end up being crucial.

Just as AS Roma was able to hold down Real without a goal, Inter Milan could end up doing the same in this one. We love the under through 90 minutes, if nothing else.

Inter Milan 1, Real Madrid 0
