PSG hopes to continue successful International Champions Cup against Manchester United

Both Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain have picked up three good results in their first three fixtures played here at the International Champions Cup. The two teams will finish off the preseason portions of their schedules on Wednesday against one another at Soldier Field.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Not surprisingly, Manchester United, sporting the significantly bigger name, is the modest favorite in this fixture. It should be remembered that this is indeed a friendly match, and these two teams will feature 22 players apiece in all likelihood on the pitch. Louis van Gaal has insinuated that perhaps some of his first-team stars will get a little bit more than 45 minutes in this duel, and that could play into why the Red Devils are the even money favorites on the moneyline.

The total is high by the measures of international soccer, but by friendly standards, a number set at a flat 3 isn't bad at all.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"I think they try to do their utmost best to look for each other, and sometimes I think too much. It should be better when we have a wide orientation, but I think they were always a threat, and that is very important." – Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal on his two strikers, Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay in a 3-1 win over Barcelona

RECENT FORM

The Red Devils have won all three of their International Champions Cup matches in normal time, but the most impressive of those duels clearly came against Barcelona in Santa Clara. The 3-1 victory was one which sent warning signals throughout the international landscape of soccer, as it is clear that Manchester United has a team good enough to beat anyone in the world this term.

United's other two wins have come by a 3-1 margin over the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS and 1-0 over Club America from Mexico.

What has been most surprising about PSG's three results here in the United States is the fact that it has scored a ton of goals. The French Ligue 1 isn't known for its goals, but here, the giants of French soccer have already logged eight goals in three fixtures, and they could have had a ton more against Chelsea.

The Parisians started with a 3-2 win over Benfica, a win which they followed up with a 4-2 win over Fiorentina. They ended up losing to Chelsea on penalties, but the 1-1 result through both 90 and 120 minutes was nothing to be ashamed of.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

These two teams also have an interesting tie between one another in the form of Angel Di Maria, who has been linked with a move from Man United to PSG in the very near future. Either way, he would be displayed in this match.

Who will be on display though, is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has had himself a heck of a start to the season for PSG.

For our money, Manchester United has the better of these two teams, but until men like Bastian Schweinsteiger and Depay really assert themselves as members of the rotation, we're not all that sure that it is going to be capable of beating a team playing as wide and as open as PSG is at the moment.

The price on PSG is a good one for this being an international friendly, and we are willing to take our chances that suggest the French side could win this one inside of 90 minutes.

PSG 2, Manchester United 0
