2016 will go down as the craziest year ever in the UFC. Now the question is, can it be topped? Hell yes it can! We have no idea what the new management has planned in their first full year, but we do know that they’ll want to see a return on investment. So far, this is looking like less events overall, but more tentpole PPV cards to rally around.
We’ll let them figure out the deets. We’re just interested in the fights. Here’s a few that would make 2017 undeniably awesome. While we’re at it, let’s project what their odds would be as well.

Conor McGregor -190 vs. NICK Diaz +150
Yes, your read that right, I said NICK Diaz. Let’s start by saying that Nate is by far the more sensible of the two. They both have the Stockton mean mug, but Nick talks so much shit that sometimes he starts to sound like a crazy person. Nate will laugh and taunt at his opponents inside the ring. Nick will lie down in front of them and pretend to take a nap.
This fight would shatter every record in the book. I get goosebumps just imagining the OG Diaz out to avenge his little brother. Nick has the length, durability and stamina to make this a real fight against Conor. Plus, he’s bigger too. And like Nate, he’s got a mouth that can go word for word with the best trash talker the game has ever seen.
It’s highly unlikely that this fight will happen. But it’s one of the biggest fights I can think of, and everybody wins in this dream matchup.
Cyborg Justino -160 vs. Holly Holm +120
I think we have to accept the fact that Cyborg vs. Rousey will never happen. Instead, we can focus on a superfight that has a real possibility of happening. In fact, the matchup was already offered to both fighters. The UFC recently stated that they had tried to schedule a bout between the savage Cyborg Justino and Rousey-killer Holly Holm, only to have Justino turn it down due to weight cutting issues.
But Cyborg didn’t completely rule out the fight, saying she just needed more time to get to the right weight. It’s possible that this could happen in March, and it’s about time that we see the Brazilian destroyer against one of the UFC’s elite bantamweights. We’ve been watching her cruise through scrubs long enough. What’s more, her style plays perfectly into Holly’s superb counter-punching game.
Jon Jones -225 vs. Anthony Johnson +175
At this point, I just want to see Jon Jones back inside the cage. Say what you wanna say about him, from his arrogance to his tainted dick pills, but if hurts MMA to have him on the sidelines. Many consider him the best fighter alive and the greatest of all time - and he’s still in his prime.
He’s beaten everyone that matters at 205 - with the exception of Anthony Johnson. And any time “Rumble” is inside the octagon, there’s a very good chance that his opponent gets laid out cold. Jones has yet to face anybody with the type of punching power that Johnson has, setting up a compelling matchup.
