UFC betting online: What makes a fight a superfight? Most of the times it’s defined by two fighters in different weight classes meeting in a cage because they’ve cleaned out their respective divisions.
Other times, it’s the best fighters from different promotions finally getting the opportunity to face each other. But there’s one thing that superfights have in common: rarity. They are extremely difficult to make due to a number of factors. But we can dream as fight fans right?
Here are three superfights everyone would love to see, and we’ll do some armchair oddsmaking, because this is a betting site. Make sure to check our UFC online odds for real fights you can bet on now.
Superfight: Ronda Rousey vs. Cris “Cyborg Justino”
Projected Bookmaker UFC odds: Rousey at minus-350, Justino at plus+200
This is long becoming MMA’s version of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, right down to a buildup that now spans years. In Rousey, you have the greatest woman fighter of all time, a champion who has been so good that she’s never even really been challenged and a superstar that is a household name and a movie star.
On the other hand, Justino is a powerful and savage fighter and arguably the only woman who can match Rousey’s brute strength. She could be the one fighter who could put Rousey through adversity, and that alone is worth the price of admission. Add in the fact that both women have been sniping at each other on social and mainstream media with no reservations, and you have a heated rivalry between the two best women in the world.
Superfight: Jon Jones vs. Cain Velasquez
Projected Bookmaker UFC odds: Jones at plus+200, Velasquez at minus-175
While this fight has lost some of its luster because Velasquez recently lost the heavyweight belt, it was a matchup that fans and experts alike loved to speculate on. Jones has been absolutely dominant at 205 and has publicly toyed with the idea of fighting at heavyweight in the future.
At 6’4” and a reported walk-around weight of near 240 pounds, Jones would fit right into the heavyweight picture. How his unparalleled creativity and seemingly invincible length would fare against a barbarian like Velasquez is a question everyone would love to see answered. Would Jones simply be taken down and beaten up? Or would his electrifying skillset translate against bigger men?
Superfight: Georges St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva
Projected Bookmaker UFC odds: GSP at +125, Silva at -110
With GSP retired and Silva battling a positive steroid test, this fight seems less possible than it ever has. But for years, it’s the fight that fans clamored for the most. At one point, both were champions who had lapped the rest of their division. And the intriguing stylistic matchup of GSP’s elite wrestling and Silva’s legendary standup could pique the curiosity of even the most casual fan. Then there’s the fact that both fighters are in the discussion of greatest of all time.
Even now, this is a fight that could break PPV records. While there’s little hope for it ever happening, who knows what could happen if the UFC offers GSP enough money to come back for a legends matchup? Silva is still hanging around, and GSP is still in his early 30s.
