UFC Fight Night 109 Odds - Chris Camozzi vs. Trevor Smith Preview and Prediction

2017-UFC-MMA-Undercard-Fight-Camozzi-vs-Smith-Betting-Online

Two UFC veterans meet at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28 in Sweden, as Chris Camozzi takes on Trevor Smith. Camozzi has lost his last two fights, while Smith is coming off a loss to Andrew Smith in December. It was supposed to be Magnus Cedenblad facing Camozzi but Cedenbad had to pull out and was replaced by Smith. The bout between Camozzi and Smith is one of four on the FS1 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to the main card on FS1, which features Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira. Let’s look at Camozzi vs. Smith and UFC predictions.

Bet on UFC at BookMaker.eu

Chris Camozzi (24-12, 9-9 UFC)

Camozzi is the ultimate journeyman, as he has split his 18 UFC fights. He is 30 years old and it is hard to get too excited about his fighting. He has dropped his last two fights, losing by decision to Daniel Kelly at UFC Fight Night 101 and he was submitted by Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 92. You can make a case that Camozzi has never beaten a really good fighter in his career. The good news for Camozzi is that Smith is not a great fighter.

Camozzi has won eight times by knockout in his career and he has six wins by submission. Camozzi said on a recent podcast that he is planning to take a couple of days with his wife in Sweden after this fight and it just seems like he isn’t really that focused. Whether it will matter or not in this fight against Smith is the question.

Trevor Smith (14-7, 4-4 UFC)

Smith is already headed down the same path that Camozzi is already on; a journeyman in the UFC. He has split his eight UFC fights and he has yet to beat a really good fighter. He is coming off a loss to Andrew Sanchez late last year.

Smith has nine wins in his career by submission and one by knockout. Nine of his finishes have come in the first round.

UFC Predictions

The odds have not yet been released on this fight but Camozzi will probably be listed as the favorite. Neither of these two fighters is anything special so it is hard to get excited about taking either of them. If the line is more than 2-1 in favor of Camozzi I will take Smith as the underdog, as I don’t see much separating these two and Camozzi doesn’t seem motivated.

This fight will probably result in a grab fest with both fighters looking to gain position. I don’t know that either of them will do much, so I will also take the rounds to go over the total.

Fight Notes

Gustafsson and Teixeira were supposed to headline the UFC Fight Night 69 card in June of 2016 but Gustafsson pulled out of that fight due to injury. The two will now headline UFC Fight Night 109 in Sweden. The UFC Fight Night 109 card has had some changes as Emil Weber Meek pulled out of a bout against Nordine Taleb and was replaced by Oliver Enkamp. A bout between Christian Colombo and Damian Grabowski was cancelled as both fighters got hurt, and Maikbek Taisumov was expected to face Joaquim Silva but Taisumov got hurt.

UFC Fight Night 109, also known as UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira will be held on May 28 at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden. The main card, which features Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira will be shown on FS1, while the six prelims are on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass with four on FS1 and two on UFC Fight Pass.
