Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes betting odds on Saturday

2.ar

This particular three-year old crop of fillies hasn't been largely noted, but those in the horse racing betting world realize that this is a truly elite crop of youngsters. The field racing in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes is good enough to challenge any previous field of three-year olds to enter this race, and the winner, if it is raced on short notice, could be a legitimate contender in one of the Breeders' Cup turf races.

ODDS ANALYSIS

1: Mizz Money 30/1

2: Prize Exhibit 6/1

3: Miss Temple City 5/1

4: Her Emmynency 8/1

5: Return to Grace 15/1

6: Olorda 15/1

7: Blond Me 8/1

8: Feathered 5/1

9: Sentiero Italia 6/5

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin got a little bit unlucky with the post draw in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes, as his prized filly, Sentiero Italia has drawn the far outside in the ninth post. She would have been an odds-on favorite to win this race had she been further towards the rail, and with four wins in six races, she very well still could end up going off as a favorite when push comes to shove.

The rest of this field is really littered with lottery tickets. There's nothing wrong with Feathered or Prize Exhibit, as they would both be favorites in a number of other races against weaker fields. It's just that the Beyer Speed Ratings that these horses have been putting up at three years old have been borderline ridiculous.

FAVORITE TO FOLLOW

It's all about Sentiero Italia on this day. She's got the best jockey on her back for the turf in Joel Rosario, and it is going to take something special to beat her. The last time she was beaten was in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational on July 4, and she ran a blazing 96 Beyer Speed Rating and was only fourth best. Take away a bad maiden effort, and Sentiero Italia has posted nothing but 90+ Beyers, including a ridiculous 103 in her last race at the Sands Point Handicap, beating many of the same horses she'll run up against in this one.

UNDERDOG TO WATCH

We're not really sure there is a filly out there who is challenging Sentiero Italia, but we're definitely interested in and intrigued by Her Emmynency. She has five Top 2 finishes in her six career races, and even though she appeared to be overmatched at 15 to 1 at the Del Mar Oaks, she still finished second in a really good field which included Prize Exhibit, who is amongst the favorites in this race.

The price is great on Her Emmynency at 8 to 1, but again, we're not all that sure that she has the goods to ultimately win this the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

The Sands Point made it clear to us who the best horse was going to be in this field.

Sentiero Italia was always the best filly in that field, one which included Blond Me and Miss Temple City, winning by 3 3/4 lengths, a margin which easily could have been significantly larger.

As long as Sentiero Italia gets off to a respectable start and gets into good position, she is going to be the filly to beat in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes.
