ODDS ANALYSIS

1: Joint Return
2: Please Explain
3: Savings Account
4: White Clover
5: Redshirt
6: Innovative Idea
7: Street Song
8: Tiger Moth
9: Kinsley
10: Her Majesty's Flag

Trying to find a favorite here at the Wayward Lass Stakes is going to be virtually impossible.

Prime Power suggests that Savings Account, Tiger Moth and Innovative Idea should be the three favorites in this race, while White Clover and Please Explain are amongst the top-rated horses by class rating.

It's always tough early in the season to try to find favorites which are worthy in races like this, knowing that often times, owners and trainers elect to try new things with their horses, whether it be running on a different surface, running at a new track, adding Lasix or perhaps running with blinkers on.

FAVORITE TO FOLLOW

We'll still take our chances with Savings Account as the top dog on Saturday at the Wayward Lass. She's the only one of the mares in this field to have run in a Grade 1 race recently, as she placed third at the Zenyatta Stakes, albeit almost 10 lengths off the pace of the fantastic Beholder.

Still, finishing third at the She's All In Handicap in December was a concern as an odds-on favorite, and we're talking about a filly who has won just one race since April.

That said, Savings Account has run at least a 95 Beyer Speed Rating four times in her last five races, and we have to think if she flirts with triple digits again in this one, she'll ultimately win the Wayward Lass.

UNDERDOG TO WATCH

Theoretically, there isn't a lot to like about Joint Return. She has just five wins in her 19 career races, and she's used to being on much better tracks than this one. She was a Grade 1 racer two years ago and had a shot to run in the Kentucky Oaks and the other races in the Triple Tiara but ultimately didn't do enough to qualify.

Though they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, the five-year old year for Joint Return might end up being better than a disastrous four-year old year in which she finished no better than fourth in her last five races.

She's likely going to race full-time on the dirt now instead of the turf which should help for consistency, and she's going to have blinkers put on her as well for the first time in this race.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

We've seen a lot of good races out of Tiger Moth of late, and White Clover is being highly touted as well locally in Tampa Bay. That said, we still think that Savings Account is the best of the bunch, albeit by a relatively small margin.

We certainly wouldn't take Savings Account as an odds-on favorite, but if she opens up around 5 to 2 or so, we think we'd have some really good value on the best mare in this field.
