NHL Odds - Sabres at Flyers Game Preview

Sabres-at-Flyers-nhl-bm

The Buffalo Sabres will try and break a two-game losing streak as they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night on NBCSN. Not much has gone right for the Sabres this season as they have been hit hard by injuries and they come into this contest in last place in the Atlantic Division. On the other side, the Flyers have played a little better of late but they face a tough scheduling spot playing with no rest.

At 7:30 p.m. ET, tune into NBCSN for live television coverage of this NHL game on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the Wells Fargo Center.

We'll have NHL odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NHL Tuesday schedule.

Odds Analysis

The Flyers will be listed as home favorites in this contest but the situation favors the Sabres as Philadelphia had a game at Montreal on Monday while the Sabres have not played since Thursday when they lost 2-1 in Vancouver.

Buffalo will be playing the finale of a four-game road trip but this is not the normal game at the end of a trip as Buffalo has had a ton of time off to get ready for this game. They had time to go home and rest plus they were able to practice and get ready for this contest.

It is an awful spot for the Flyers as not only are they playing with no rest but this will be their third game in four nights and teams normally struggle in this spot.

Special Teams

Despite their slow start, the Sabres have been pretty good on special teams as their power play is ranked 11th in the league while their penalty killing is ranked 6th. Buffalo is scoring just 2.8 goals per game so even their good power play numbers haven’t helped enough and the Sabres are allowing 3 goals per contest.

Philadelphia is 12th in the NHL on the power play and a poor 22nd in the league in penalty killing. The Flyers are scoring 3.8 goals per game overall which is 4th in the league but they are allowing 3.8 goals per contest which is near the bottom of the NHL.

Key Stat

The Flyers have had major trouble on defense this season and injuries have been a contributing factor. The Flyers are without Michael Del Zotto for at least the next few weeks and the Flyers have been missing Radko Gudas who was suspended for the first six games of the season. His return should help but the Flyers really need Del Zotto to return for everyone to get into their proper positions.

The Flyers have rookie Ivan Provorov on defense and he is going through some growing pains. He was much better on Saturday night against Carolina in a 6-3 win. “He played a good hockey game,” Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said. “There were a lot of questions coming in how he handled things. We all felt inside our locker room that he has handled things well through some ups and downs. He was a solid player tonight. Sometimes, a little change for the sake of change is a good thing.”

The Sabres and Flyers met three times last season with Buffalo winning two of the three with two of the three going over the total. Buffalo has held their own in Philly recently, splitting the last four meetings with three of the four going over the total.

Free NHL Picks

This is a great spot for the Sabres on Tuesday night as they are well rested while the Flyers are playing their third game in four days so I will take Buffalo at plus money to get the road win. This should also be a high scoring game as the Flyers are playing very little defense so I will also take the game over the total.

NHL Odds: Sabres 5, Flyers 4
