NHL Odds - Flyers at Lightning Game Preview

2016-NHL-Flyers-at-Lightning-Betting-Odds

The Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning will meet for the second time in less than a week as they face off on Wednesday night in a game that can be seen on NBCSN. The Lightning shut out the Flyers on Saturday night in Philadelphia, winning 3-0. The Flyers will be playing the second half of a back-to-back on Wednesday as they were at Florida on Tuesday night. Tampa Bay should have the advantage as they are at home and having not played since Monday.

At 7:30 p.m. ET, tune into NBCSN for live television coverage of this NHL game on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Amalie Arena.

We'll have NHL odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NHL Wednesday schedule.

Odds Analysis

The Flyers will be completing a quick two-game road trip in Florida against the Panthers and Lightning. Philadelphia began this trip with a 3-4-1 record on the road with six of those games going over and just two going under.

The Lightning are beginning a quick two-game homestand as they face the Flyers on Wednesday and the Blue Jackets on Friday. Tampa Bay is 5-3 at home with three games going over, three going under with two pushes.

Special Teams

The Flyers have been really good on the power play this season as they are at 25% which is 3rd best in the league. The Flyers are scoring 3.2 goals per game and the power play is a big reason why. The problem for Philadelphia is their defense and the penalty killing has been no help as the Flyers are 27th in the league in penalty killing at just 78.2%. The Flyers are last in the league in goals allowed per game at 3.4

The Lightning have been excellent on the power play as they are 2nd in the league at 26.4%. Tampa is scoring 3.2 goals per game. Tampa has also been solid on the penalty kill as they are 8th in the league at 85.2%. The Lightning are 9th in the league in goals allowed at 2.4 per contest.

Goalie Report

The Flyers are not getting much goaltending as starter Steve Mason is 4-9 with a 3.12 goals against average. Mason is getting all of the work because backup Michal Neuvirth is out due to injury. The Flyers did call up Anthony Stolarz and since this is a back-to-back there is a chance he could be in net on Wednesday night for the Flyers.

Tampa Bay has been getting excellent goaltending this season as starter Ben Bishop is 7-5 with a 2.77 goals against average while backup Andrei Vasilevskiy has been outstanding with a 5-2 record and a 1.43 goals against average. It was Vasilevskiy who shut out the Flyers on Saturday. It was the second straight shut out for Vasilevskiy. "He's locked in," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said, "He's in command. Guys are coming down against him and they're almost deflated because he's in that much command of what's going on. He's tracking every puck and when stuff gets a little scrambly he's the calm in the storm and he's swallowing pucks."

Free NHL Picks

The Flyers have held their own in this series of late splitting the last six games with three of the last four going under the total. The Lightning had owned this series in Tampa until last season when the Flyers broke an eight-game losing streak, winning 3-1 in Tampa. Only three of the last seven in Tampa have gone under.

This should be a game that Tampa wins but the Flyers will be looking for revenge for what happened to them on Saturday night at home. The teams played a low scoring game on Saturday but that may not happen this time around. I will avoid a side in this one and simply take the game over the total.

NHL Odds: Lightning 4, Flyers 3
