NHL Odds - Blues at Bruins

2016-NHL-Blues-at-Bruins-Betting-Odds

Two teams playing well meet on Tuesday night as the St. Louis Blues visit the Boston Bruins in a game that can be seen on NBCSN. The Blues have won three straight while the Bruins have won seven of their last ten. St. Louis is in second place in the Central Division while the Bruins are battling for third place in the Atlantic Division. This has been a home team series of late as the Bruins have taken eight of the last ten vs. the Blues at TD Garden.

This war on the ice will go down Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at 7 p.m. ET at TD Garden. The game will be televised live on NBCSN.

We'll have NHL odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NHL Tuesday schedule.

Odds Analysis

This is the first game of a two-game road trip for St. Louis and the first half of a back-to-back as they are in Washington on Wednesday. The Blues have not played well on the road this season going 2-5-1 with four games going over and four going under.

The Bruins are completing a two-game homestand as they are coming off a 4-1 win against Winnipeg on Saturday. The Bruins haven’t played that many games at home so far this season as this is just their 8th home game. They are 4-3 at home this season with three games going over, three going under with one push.

Special Teams

The Blues have been solid on the power play as they are 9th in the league at 21.2%. The Blues are scoring 2.5 goals per game. St. Louis has excelled on the penalty kill as they are 2nd in the league at 89.6%. It is somewhat surprising St. Louis has allowed 2.6 goals per game considering those numbers.

The Bruins have struggled on the power play this season as they are just 21st in the league at 13.8%. The Bruins are not a high scoring team as they are scoring just 2.4 goals per contest. Boston has been solid on the penalty kill as they are 9th in the league at 85.3%. Boston has been stout on defense and in goal as they are allowing just 2.2 goals per game.

Goalie Report

The Blues have a solid starting goaltender in Jake Allen who is 8-6 on the season with a 2.35 goals against average. Since this is a back-to-back it will probably be Allen on Tuesday and backup Carter Hutton on Wednesday. Hutton is 2-3 on the season with a 2.77 goals against average. Allen made 30 saves on Saturday in a 3-1 win against Nashville. He is 6-0-2 at home this season. “That’s what’s been going on lately with him,” head coach Ken Hitchcock said. “He makes the big save at the right time.”

The Bruins have a very good goaltender in Tuukka Rask who starts the majority of their games. He has been spectacular this season with an 11-2 record and a 1.46 goals against average. The two backups, Zane McIntyre and Anton Khodobin have not played well but neither should see action in this game on Tuesday. Boston has been without a number of key players at times this season but because of the great play of Rask the team enters this game at 11-7 on the season.

Free NHL Picks

The Blues have not been a good road team this season while the Bruins have been decent at home and the trends heavily favor Boston as they almost always beat St. Louis when the games are played in Boston. I will lay the small price and take the Bruins on Tuesday night. Neither of these teams is scoring many goals and three of the last four meetings in Boston have been low scoring so I will also play the game under the total.

NHL Odds: Bruins 3, Blues 1
