LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok Odds

After four tournaments in the States it’s off to Bangkok for this week’s LIV Golf Invitational Thailand. While controversy continues to swirl regarding the Saudi-backed enterprise the golf has been spectacular with the 48-player field ready to put on another show from Oct. 7-9 at the brand new Stonehill Golf Club. The guys favored to win did that the last two events with Dustin Johnson in Boston and Cameron Smith last time out in Chicago pocketing the cool $4 million prize. So, to no one’s surprise those two are tops on the odds board for this week’s edition looking to become the first two-time winner. Along with Joaquin Niemann the trio are the only players with shorter than 10/1 odds on the opening lines. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of betting odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Odds Analysis

Bryson DeChambeau +2200

I guess if DeChambeau is going to break out this is the perfect place for him to do it. The length of Stonehill along with generous fairways will allow him to use his biggest asset, and converting his booming drives into scoring chances will put him near the top. His best starts came in the last two so he appears to be trending in the right direction and we know he can win big events after taking the 2020 US Open title.

Talor Gooch +1800

If you’re looking for another first time winner Gooch is the guy. He had a great beginning to his LIV career placing among the top-10 in each of his first four starts and winning three team titles. There was an unexplainable letdown in Chicago when Gooch had a tough time with his putter leading to a 3-over 219 and 35th place finish. He had been so good for so long that it’s hard to imagine setting a trend. I’d rather call it an off-week and watch Gooch get back to doing what he does best.

Brooks Koepka +3300

We saw some of golf’s bigger names succeed in the last two tournaments and few are more high-profile than Koepka, who looks to make his mark in LIV Golf. He’s had timid results since dominating the major championships on the PGA Tour a few years ago and it’s been over two years since winning the Phoenix Open. He’s yet to garner a top-10 in four LIV starts, but we know what he’s capable of and the ability to break out is always there.

Joaquin Niemann +800

It didn’t take long for Niemann to climb up the points standings moving into 13th after competing in two tournaments. Capturing a pair of top-5s can do that in a hurry. Niemann and a few others were the last to make the move to LIV Golf and it’s paid off for the Chilean with a third in Boston and a fifth last week. It doesn’t matter where he plays Niemann learns the track and plays splendid golf, something he did plenty of on the PGA side.

Louis Oosthuizen +1600

One of the few golfers to play competitively between events, Oosthuizen closed strong with a 65-68 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to earn a share of 10th place. And we’ve seen him get stronger in the LIV series with a sixth in Chicago that followed his 10th in Boston and 20th at Bedminster. We’ve seen what the South African can do when he gets on a run of form and this could be the beginning for him.

Course: Stonehill Golf Club – 7,591 yards, Par 71

Since most of the field probably didn’t know Stonehill existed it’s hard to give anyone an advantage based on course knowledge. The exclusive club opened in July after five years of planning and hosts the only Asian stop on the LIV Series this year, though more are expected with LIV Golf expanding its reach in the area. Stonehill is a relatively long par 71 at 7,600 yards. It looks wide open with comfortable fairways and the requisite number of hazards. The rolling terrain could be a factor along with strategically placed bunkers and a stream that comes into play on seven holes. Since the course just opened a few months ago it will be in excellent shape.
