Odds Analysis

Paul Dunne +1100

I can’t argue with Dunne being favored, as he has three top 10 finishes in his last three starts. He lost a playoff in this event a year ago and there is no reason to think he won’t be right there again on Sunday.

Joost Luiten +1500

Luiten is in fine form with a win and a tie for 9th in his last three starts. He tied for 13th in this event a year ago. The only concern I would have in backing Luiten is that he has not played in a month.

George Coetzee +1700

Coetzee had a great final round last week to finish fourth. He loves playing in Africa and tied for 3rd in this event in 2015 and tied for 11th in 2014. Coetzee is putting really well right now and he could be in the mix for the win on Sunday.

Thomas Pieters +1700

If Pieters was playing better I would like his chances, as he has the distance to do well on this course, but he missed the cut at the Masters and his previous two tournaments were also poor. He has also missed the cut in this event in two tries.

Alexander Levy +1700

Levy has been solid on the European Tour in regular events this season with a couple of tie for 4ths and a tie for 7th in four starts. He could get into the mix this week.

Jorge Campillo +2900

I liked Campillo last week and he played well, but no one was beating Rahm. Campillo has been an excellent putter this season and Campillo played well in this event a year ago, finishing in a tie for 19th.

Aaron Rai +4900

One of my two longshots is Rai who is in the top 20 this season in strokes gained: putting. He tied for 12th last week in Spain and he tied for 9th at the Indian Open.

Robert Rock +6200

Rock has played this event well in the past including a tie for 7th in 2010. He comes in playing pretty well with a tie for 7th in Oman, a tie for 12th in India and a tie for 28th last week. He is 4th in shots gained: putting.

Course: This event has been held at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam the past two years. The course is long at about 7,600 yards, so distance off the tee is a key stat to consider this week. Putting is also a big key, as the greens are listed as Agrostis Pencross and Poa.
