Henrik Stenson +600 and Lee Westwood +1000 headline the betting field this week at the Nordea Masters. Stenson has never won in his home country but Westwood has won this event three times and is excited to come back to a place where he picked up his first win on the European Tour.

Westwood said: “I’m looking forward to going back. The Nordea Masters was the last tournament I won in Europe. I’ve won it three times in three different decades, so it’s one of my most successful tournaments and it’d be lovely to win it a fourth time.

“The tournament has got a lot of special memories for me. I got my first win in Gothenburg in 1996, after a play-off with Paul Broadhurst and Russell Claydon, and then I won again in Stockholm in 2000 and 2012. The tournament has been very good to me and I’ve got a great record, so hopefully I can keep the run going this week.”

Other players to keep your eyes on this week include Matthew Fitzpatrick +2500, Peter Hanson +2550, Thomas Pieters +2600, Tyrrell Hatton +1850 and defending champion Alex Noren +1650.

After two years at PGA Sweden National, the tournament returns to the Stadium Course at Bro Hof Slott GC. It’s been ranked the No.1 course in Sweden since it opened in 2007. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the layout measures 7,511 yards and plays to a par 72. The signature hole is the 131-yard par-3 17th which features an island green similar to the one at TPC Sawgrass in the United States.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Rikard Karlberg +3050 closed with an impressive 65 at last week’s BMW PGA Championship to secure second place, his best finish of the year and that followed a T10 at the Irish Open. The last time the tournament was played at Bro Hof Slott, the Swede fired four rounds in the 60’s and finished fourth.

Of all the Swedes, perhaps the one with the biggest upside and best chance to win, it has to be Karlberg.

One player that continues to disappoint is Matthew Fitzpatrick +2500. After an impressive 2015 season, his form is lost in 2016. He’s missed three of his last four cuts and really looks confused on the golf course. To add to the problem, he played here a year ago and missed the cut. The new venue can only help the young, struggling Englishman but given his recent form and tournament history, Fitzpatrick is a player to fade this week in Sweden.

Robert Karlsson has fallen on hard times. The Swede was once one of the best players in the world with a ton of upside, but after going to the United States to play, he lost his way, his game and exempt status. He is now back in Europe struggling mightily with his game. He has missed six cuts in a row and his confidence is rattled. Stay away from Karlsson.

VALUE picks this week include Ross Fisher at +3100 and Fabrizio Zanotti +5900. Fisher is very consistent making 12 of 13 cuts this year and Zanotti is playing his best golf of the year. Both players should contend this week.
