Odds Analysis

Thomas Pieters +850

Pieters won this event a year ago and tied the course record with a 62. He didn’t play well at the PGA Championship with a 79-77 and I think he is overvalued at odds of +850. There is no question the field is weak and Pieters could win, but I just can’t take him as a favorite.

Soren Kjeldsen +1150

You have to give Kjeldsen a good chance to win this week, as he has finished 8th, 2nd and 15th in this event in the last three years. He played well at the Wyndham Championship with a tie for 16th and he is an excellent putter and that bodes well for him in this tournament in Denmark.

Martin Kaymer +1650

I have no idea why Kaymer is listed with odds this low. He withdrew from both the WGC-Bridgestone and PGA Championship with a shoulder issue. He has rested up to heal but I just can’t see him being back into tourney form. He did tie for 6th here last year and the field is poor, but I am not taking him.

Thorbjorn Olesen +1850

Olesen bombed in front of his home fans the last two years but perhaps this will be his year, as he comes in playing well with a tie for 10th at the WGC-Bridgestone and a good opening round at the PGA. He putted well at Firestone and he definitely has a chance to win against this field.

Bradley Dredge +2550

You have to give Dredge a chance because he loves playing at Himmerland. He finished second in 2014, sixth two years ago and he was second last year. He went out fast last week at the Paul Lawrie Match Play but because of his love for Himmerland I think he could hit at a nice price this week.

Richard Sterne +3550

My longshot this week is Sterne who played well at the PGA with a tie for 28th. He likes Himmerland, as he finished tied for 10th last year in his debut in this event. I give him a good chance to be in the mix for the win on Sunday.

Course: This event takes place at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort in Farso, Denmark. It is a par 71 that measures 7,382 yards. It has hosted the Made in Denmark in each of the last three years. The course features the 16th hole, which is a par 3 known as Himmerland Hill, one of the most famous holes on the European Tour. Fans are able to sit on steep banks surrounding the hole, similar to the 16th hole at the TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.
