Lyoness Open Preview, Odds and Predictions

2017-GOLF-Lyoness-Open-Odds-to-win-EURO-Betting-Online-Odds

Bernd Wiesberger is a solid favorite to win the Lyoness Open, which begins on Thursday in Austria. It is a weak field this week on the European Tour, so Wiesberger should have a good shot to win in front of his home fans in a tournament he really looks forward to playing, as he noted on the European Tour website. "It is always something special to compete in front of a home crowd and I can already look back on several good results and many great memories of the Lyoness Open.” Wiesberger is the only player listed at single-digit odds and only one other player, Joost Luiten is listed at odds of less than +2550.

Odds Analysis

Bernd Wiesberger +450

You have to start with Wiesberger this week, as he has won this event in the past and in six starts he has finished in the top 14 a total of five times. He also comes in playing well, as he won the Shenzhen International and then tied for 4th at the China Open and tied for 12th at THE PLAYERS. He tied for 30th at the BMW PGA Championship. The field this week is really poor and Wiesberger is a deserving favorite.

Joost Luiten +1050

If Weisberger is to get a challenge it could come from Luiten who has had four starts in this event at Diamond CC and finished 6th or better each time. He won this event in 2013 and he has never had a round worse than 72. The only concern with taking Luiten is that he isn’t playing well, having missed the cut last week.

Gregory Bourdy +2550

There is definitely some value on Bourdy this week. He has played really well at Diamond in the past with a tie for 18th in 2012, a tie for 8th in 2013, a tie for 6th two years ago and a tie for 6th last year.

Julian Suri +2850

You can make a strong case that Suri should be listed at single-digit odds. He was second at the Open de Portugal, he won the Czech Masters two weeks ago and he tied for third last week in Switzerland.

Jaco Van Zyl +3350

Could this be the week for Van Zyl to get a win? He has finished in the top three eight times on the European Tour and still hasn’t gotten a win. The field is weak and he could contend.

Miguel Angel Jimenez +4050

You have to give Jimenez a shot, as he has played this event six times and finished in the Top 20 every time. He has been playing well on the Senior PGA Tour and a win this week would not be a huge shock.

Graeme Storm +5050

Once you get beyond the top two, there are some intriguing longshots including Storm who won the South African Open and has two other top six finishes this season. He has three top ten finishes in Austria on the European Tour and the Challenge Tour.

Course: Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, Austria is a par 72 that measures 7,417 yards. It features water hazards on half of the holes but scores have still been pretty good through the years. It is worth noting that the designer of this course also designed GC Toulouse Seilh, a course that both Weisberger and Luiten have won on in the past.
