American star and victorious Ryder Cup team member, Brandt Snedeker +350 is the headliner at this week’s Fiji International. The eight-time US PGA Tour winner would like to add to his collection of titles when he makes his debut in the tournament, which for the first time will be co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia.

“I am excited to be coming to play in the Fiji International – I enjoy competing all over the world but this will be my first time playing a golf tournament in Fiji,” said the World Number 23. “I will try not to get too distracted by the beauty of Fiji, as I would love to win another tournament this year.”

Home grown hero Vijay Singh +1500 is playing this week and he is the reason the tournament exists. Singh has won 60 tournaments, including three Major Championships and nine regular European Tour events, in 16 different countries. “I am so proud that Fiji now has a world-class tournament which brings some excellent golfers to the country,” said Singh. “I love coming home to play. I have managed some good finishes in the first two Fiji Internationals, but I am hoping this is the year I can win.”

Other notables scheduled to play include American Boo Weekley +1750 and Australian Steven Bowditch +3000. South African Dylan Frittelli +1600, who was Jordan Spieth’s teammate in college is also in the field.

Hopefully the tournament can increase the purse and attract more world class players in the future years.

Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course is poised to host the new Fiji International, a co-sanctioned ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour. The purse keeps going up and this year the total purse is up to AU$1.5 million.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Brandt Snedeker +350 is the heavy favorite this week and for good reason. He is coming off a Ryder Cup that saw him go 3-0 to help the U.S. reclaim the cup. Prior to Hazeltine, he has not missed a cut since the U.S. Open and plays well every single week. This week he gets to play a course that is right on the ocean. Sneds thrives on ocean tracks, winning both at Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach on the PGA Tour. He should be fresh and ready to win one more title in 2016.

American Boo Weekley +1750 is a ball-striking machine which will come in handy this week in the blustery conditions on the ocean course. If he can putt just average, he will be in the mix on Sunday afternoon in Fiji.
