European Tour Picks – Odds to Win Trophee Hassan II

Odds to Win Trophee Hassan II

The European Tour is back in action this week after a month-long hiatus, giving golf bettors more opportunities to put a few bucks in their pocketbook. The field gathers this week in Morocco celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Trophee Hassan II on the Euro circuit. Named after the late Moroccan King Hassan II, the event will be played for a fourth consecutive year at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. Joost Luiten opened as the betting favorite at BookMaker.eu with odds of +1600, telling us that the field is wide open. Defending champion Alexander Levy is further down the odds board at +2500, but any number of players can emerge victorious.

Odds Analysis

Joost Luiten +1600

Somebody has to be at the top of the odds board and Luiten is the guy right now. And he’s positioned there for good reason. A better start would certainly yield a better finish, as long as he doesn’t decline after the first 18. He was T14 here three years ago and ended the 2017 version at T13 and last year at T9. He clearly enjoys the challenge and has conquered the Red Course for 54 of the 72 holes. Now, if he can play a complete four days, he’ll be in position for the win. And his current odds are reasonable.

Victor Dubuisson +2800

The Frenchman is getting his game back after missing nearly all of 2018. A T18 at the Saudi International was his breakout event with three sub-70 rounds. He also snagged a T13 at Oman and T10 last time out at the Hero Indian Open. Couple recent form with a promising showing here in 2017 when he shared fourth, and he has the tools to be among the contenders.

Paul Waring +6000

With no clear favorites among the field it can be profitable to look down the odds board for a high target value pick, and Waring’s play at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam suggests he might be the one. His odds are long based on recent form that’s seen him go three starts without a top 50. He did grab a T6 in Abu Dhabi and a T3 in Dubai earlier this year, and he returns to a layout that’s yielded him a T3 in 2017 and T9 last year.

Paul Dunne +4000

We can give analysis on why players will compete for a title. We can also give you analysis on why they won’t. Dunne has had success here in the past with a T16 three years ago and playoff loss 12 months later. However, he wasn’t happy with the new greens last year and missed the cut after rounds of 73 and 76. I don’t believe he’s recovered and mentally he’s not in the game, so you should probably stay away from him.

Course: Royal Golf Dar Es Salam – 7,557 yards, Par 72

The Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam is regarded as one of the best layouts on the continent of Africa. The track can be stretched to near 7,600 yards and meanders through a forest of eucalyptus, oak and cork trees. The course underwent a major transformation on all 18 greens recently and the sight of the new short grass was concerning to some, who felt the bumpy nature of the greens didn’t do the layout justice. The dance floors were enlarged, however, making them easier to hit in regulation. It also created additional pin placements putting a premium on strategy, approach and the short game.
