2016-Abu-Dhabi-HSBC-Championship-Odds

The European Tour heads to the Arabian desert for the first of three tournaments known as the “Desert Swing” and what a field we have for this week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

If you were looking for an early season showdown between Jordan Spieth +445 and Rory McIlroy +405 you may find it this week. Spieth holds down the world No. 1 position and McIlroy is right on his heels as both players look to dominate the world of golf.

The field is stacked with elite players; Rickie Fowler +1615, Henrik Stenson +1615, Branden Grace +1615, Danny Willett +3750 and three-time winner of this event, Martin Kaymer +1815.

Other notables include Matthew Fitzpatrick +3680, Bernd Wiesberger +4550, Lee Westwood +3850 and Ian Poulter +3250.

The tournament got a real jolt when Americans Spieth and Fowler were added to the field. This is a must see event and hopefully Spieth and McIlroy don’t disappoint.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club will host this years event for the 11th consecutive year. The club gets rave reviews and is the reason why the tournament has such a world class field.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Rory McIlroy versus Jordan Spieth

The two best players in the world go head to head and McIlroy is the favorite. I guess he has the edge considering he has won on this course and feels very familiar on it. Spieth is making his first visit to the Arabian desert and although the phenom from Texas is amazing, I give the nod to McIlroy in this matchup.

Martin Kaymer +1815 has won on this venue three times in his career. The German loves this place and will contend again this week. Play Kaymer on fantasy teams and in the golf matchups, he won’t disappoint!

The best value on the board has to be Thongchai Jaidee +8500. People forget that he is a world class player and unappreciated. Jaidee, for your information, is the No. 28 ranked player in the world and like Rodney Dangerfield, gets no respect.

Another player to keep your eyes on this week is Thomas Pieters +4500. The former Illinois standout finished T4 here last year and later on picked up two victories on the European Tour. Now in his third year on tour, Pieters is ready to take the next step and climb into the top 25 in the world rankings. For the moment, the Belgian is ranked No. 88 - that will all change this year.
