College Football Army vs. Navy Game Parlay Picks

With Championship week behind us and bowl season ahead, this week gives us just one college football game to wager on, and it’s a dandy deserving of standalone status. The annual clash between the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen has lost importance on the national stage with the emergence of the sport as a big business enterprise. With none of the players going to the glitz, glamour and big money of the NFL and instead go off to defend our country after their playing days, the players truly do it for the love of the game.

In one of the most intense college football rivalries that dates back over a century it’s a game that’s hard to handicap. Both teams enter with identical 5-6 records with this being their national championship game. And in a way it is for the Cadets, who can reclaim the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy with a victory. You could also say Army is the hottest team entering the contest with three straight wins. Oddsmakers at crypto sportsbooks have the same feeling tabbing Army as a 3-point favorite on the college football betting line. Traditionally we don’t see lot of points with the teams cashing the UNDER in 16 straight games before last year’s 20-17 Army victory exceeded the total of 32. The total for Saturday opened at an all-time low of 27.5.

Before I get into my same-game parlay picks I’d be remiss if I failed to mention my championship week winning three-team parlay. Yep, it took a while but I finally hit one. The spread in the last Pac-12 title game seemed a little off with Washington catching 10 points. The Huskies earned a bigger payout with the win getting them a seat at the CFP table. I knew Iowa would have a tough time scoring and trusted Michigan’s offense to get more than 23 points. Bingo, it happened with the Wolverines heading to the CFP undefeated for a second straight season following their 26-0 victory. And finally, the Mountain West title game between Boise State and UNLV produced enough points get me a win on the OVER sending me to the Army/Navy game on a roll.

Running the option can surprise teams that only have a week to prepare for it. However it’s not as successful against a team that runs the same kind of offense and practices against it every week. So, it’s not overly surprising that recent games have been low scoring. Weather has played a factor as well with the annual clash typically held in the eastern part of the country in the second weekend of December. I really want to bet the UNDER but the total hit the board as the lowest in at least the last 30 years at 27.5. Three of the last four games produced more combined points than the total on the board. As a result one leg of my same game college football parlay will be backing the OVER.

You can throw all the stats and records out the window when the service academies tangle. We did that when Army and Air Force met in Week 10. Entering the contest as an 18-point dog, the Cadets thoroughly dominated a team that some considered the best G5 program in the country when the Falcons started the season 8-0. With several key offensive players out, injuries played a role in AF losing its last four games. Still the Cadets were able to secure the 23-3 win putting them on the cusp of winning back the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy.

I came across this gem when looking at same-game parlay bets and thought what the heck. The bet is on whether or not one team will connect on three straight scores. Given how the games have gone in the past several years we’d be lucky to see three scores in the entire game, though I hope that doesn’t happen since one of my picks would spoil my parlay. Anyway, a straight up bet on NO pays even money and it also helps the payout in the parlay.

Another bet I saw but was too afraid to include on my same game parlay is the possibility of overtime. Backing bonus football pays around 100/1 and considering the games in the series have been remarkably close over the years, dropping some change in a separate wager could pay off handsomely.
