While "American Idol" calls it a wrap after 15 successful seasons, many have mentioned "The Voice" as the obvious successor to the throne. Fact is, "The Voice" is right behind it, with ten seasons already under its belt.

This week’s Knockouts:

Team Xtina: Kata Hay defeated Joe Maye (Joe later stolen by Blake) |Kata was definitely more in tune than in her prior performances, but her enunciation was woefully off. Xtina seemed confident enough with her decision, but Joe is still in this thing.

Team Adam: Caroline Burns defeated Katharine Ho |What they showed of Caroline’s performances sounded OK, but nothing about it screamed “I'm going to win this whole thing.” And we're close enough to the end where it would have been good if it did.

.

Team Adam: Laith Al-Saadi defeated Jessica Crosbie |“You both gave solid performances,” said Xtina. Laith definitely deserved the win over Jessica (whose pretty tone couldn’t trump her sorely lacking energy level), but there were more than a few notes where it seemed as if his voice threatened to give out.

Team Adam: Brian Nhira defeated Nate Butler |Not many of the advancing singers stand a chance against last week’s Knockout winners, in my opinion. Case in point: Brian. His voice is powerful, and can go from zero to 60 so quickly, but his emotional approach is static.

Team Blake: Mary Sarahdefeated Brittany Kennel |There’s clearly a reason Mary came this close to being a breakout country star a few years back. But her throwback country vibe is already wearing a wee bit thin. Sure "The Voice" has had its share of success with country singers, but it can be grating when it approaches pandering. If Mary wants to connect with the voting public, she needs to make sure her artistic POV reads entirely authentic, and not like a gimmick.

Team Pharrell: Caity Peters defeated Abby Celso |There are only two contestants on this week's Knockouts who could give early faves Curly Sue, Adam Wakefield, Hannah Huston and Tamar Davis some serious competition, and Caity’s one of ’em. As for Abby, she aimed for a jazzy twist on Hall & Oates, but that strategy proved misguided.

Team Xtina: Bryan Bautista defeated Trey O’Dell |Bryan’s inspired reggae twist on Justine Bieber earned him a spot alongside Alisan and Tamar as must-haves in the Season 10 Top 12.And with the very, very good Ryan Quinn, as well as Kata, under Xtina’sguidance, that increases the chances of a soul-crushing elimination during next week’s Live Playoffs.
