Overwatch League Week Four Betting Preview

2018-eSports-Coverage-preview-Betting-Odd

This is the penultimate week of the First Stage of the Overwatch League. Last week was rife with upsets as Seoul, London, and New York all suffered their first losses of the season. However, that wasn’t enough to shake up the top of the standings, as all three are still at the top of the table at 5-1.

That means it’s make or break time for the teams that are just behind them. There will be $100,000 on the line in the Stage One Playoffs next week, but only three teams will be eligible to play for it. That makes Friday’s second match between Seoul and Houston extremely important.

Overwatch League Week Four Betting Odds

San Francisco Shock -450 Florida Mayhem +300

Neither the Shock or the Mayhem have been particularly good thus far, and both squads will look to add players in the next stage. Currently, San Francisco has seven players on its active roster, while Florida has just six.

However, the Shock have been much more competitive than Florida has. Both of these teams beat the worst team in the league, the Shanghai Dragons, but San Francisco also knocked off Boston too.

We know what San Francisco is going to do until Super and Sinatraa are eligible to play next month, rely on babybay to carry the day. Babybay has the talent to take over games for this team, and he has won this team a number of maps almost single-handedly.

The Mayhem have a DPS tandem that can effectively counter him in Tviq and Logix, but things are grim after that. Florida’s supports are the second-worst in the league, only behind Shanghai, while Cwoosh is quite possibly the worst tank in the league. He gets caught out far too often, and that will be the difference in a 3-1 Shock win.

Seoul Dynasty -350 Houston Outlaws +250

This series will show just how legitimate Houston is. The Outlaws have melted their competition since a winless opening week. Houston has won five straight series and is an incredible 19-1 on its last 20 maps. This team boasts perhaps the best Western DPS duo in the league in Jake and Linkzr, and those two have gone off in recent matches.

Seoul is paced by its supports. It’s hard to overestimate just how good both Ryujehong and Tobi have been. This is unquestionably the best support duo in the league, and their ability to defend and help out on the attack separates this team from the rest.

I like Houston quite a bit, but Seoul is just a cut above. The Dynasty should be closer to -600 in this one, so take advantage of the miscalculation.

Boston Uprising -334 Los Angeles Gladiators +240

The Gladiators might be 3-4, but this is a team that has proven it can hang with some of the best. They got swept by Seoul, New York, and Houston, but beat Philadelphia and nearly beat the Valiant. They have an underrated back line in Shaz and BigGoose, and a nice collection of DPS talent too.

Boston might have the best strategies in the league. This team does not have a lot of talent, but has great coaching and excellent coordination. They know how to play to their strengths and how to counter what opponents are doing, making them a tough team to face.

Although Boston should be the favorite, it is too big of a favorite heading into this one. LA is a very live dog at this price.
