League of Legends NA LCS Championship Betting Preview

It’s time to crown a new champion in North America. After years of being ruled by one of three teams, either Team Liquid or 100 Thieves will win their first NA LCS crown and represent the region at the Mid-Season Invitational.

For Team Liquid, this has been expected for quite some time. Liquid has continually poured money and resources into the team in hopes of success, but they have never been able to find the right combination until now.

As for 100 Thieves, no one knew what to make of this team at the start of the year. The team was one of the expansion franchises that came into the NA LCS and signed veterans from teams that didn’t make the cut as well as cast-offs from other organizations. Yet they ended up winning the NA LCS regular season and are just a win away from becoming legends.

Player to Watch

Heading into this match, all eyes are on Doublelift. Love him or hate him, you have to feel for him after the tragedy he suffered less than 24 hours after Team Liquid made it to the finals.

Indications are that Doublelift will play in this series despite what happened. There’s no telling whether or not it will affect him, but when he is on, he is one of the top AD Carries in North America. Doublelift has been great this season, and he has come up big in the playoffs thus far.

It took some time for he and Olleh to develop chemistry in the bottom lane, but now that they have the duo is tough to beat. Thus far in the playoffs, Doublelift has been unkillable and he has an incredible 39 KDA in seven playoff games. He really shined last week against Echo Fox, dominating on both Caitlin and Ashe to win the series for Liquid.

Matchup to Watch

Usually, this is where I talk about the mid lane matchup. However, this whole split has seen top laners play a much bigger role than usual and these two sides each have veterans playing that position.

Liquid’s Impact has a plethora of postseason experience. He rose to fame in Korea as part of SK Telecom T1’s first World Championship team, but soon headed for North America. Since then, he has bounced around a bit, but was mainly known as Cloud9’s top laner for three splits. Impact is a top laner that won’t make mistakes, but he isn’t going to make a ton of plays for you either.

Ssumday is the opposite. He too came over to the US from a Korean superteam, KT Rolster, but he has always been known as someone that can bully in lane. He has been great on a scaling champion like Cho’Gath, and he has performed well on Gnar too. Don’t be surprised if he takes a carry champion like Camille or Fiora at some point though.

The Play

I’m going to be honest. I don’t understand this line. Liquid looks hot right now, but they played two teams that looked beatable heading into the playoffs. They weren’t overwhelming in a sweep over Cloud9 and followed that up with a win over an Echo Fox team that had fallen off at the tail end of the year.

100 Thieves certainly struggled to get past Clutch Gaming, but Clutch is a team that can give opponents problems. Febiven was arguably the best player this split, and this was the team that had just ended Team SoloMid’s dynasty the round before.

I really like 100 Thieves in this matchup. Cody Sun and Aphromoo should be able to counter in the bottom lane very well, and I like Ssumday in the top. Provided Ryu plays well in the mid lane, I think 100 Thieves wins the NA LCS Spring Split.
