This week, League of Legends domestic seasons are starting across the globe and we are looking at some of the important matches in North America. Team SoloMid was virtually unstoppable in the 2016 Summer Split, posting a 17-1 record and cruising to a Summer Championship, but new contenders have emerged. Team Dignitas, Immortals, and Cloud9 all revamped their rosters in the offseason and will be looking to knock off TSM.

EnVyUs +270

Unlike many of the other teams in North America, CLG held pat with its roster and will be rolling out the same group that finished in second place in the 2016 Mid-Season Invitational. Stability is typically a good thing, but that might not be the case with CLG considering how its season ended. CLG lost twice to upstarts Albus NoX Luna at Worlds to miss out on the quarterfinals although the side was widely expected to qualify. Stixxay, Darshan, and Aphromoo are still among the best at their positions in North America though and this team should finish in the top-half of North America.

EnVyUs didn’t get better from last year and that’s a bit concerning for a team that finished 8-10 during the Summer Split. Envy lost one of the better AD Carry players in North America in LOD and held pat with the rest of its lineup except for its new Jungler LirA. This team did split with CLG last summer though and is worth a flyer at this price.

Immortals +155

Until TSM loses, this team is going to be favored to beat everyone in 2017. TSM only made one change in the offseason, with AD Carry Doublelift making way for WildTurtle, but WildTurtle was previously on the team and has chemistry with the current roster. Svenskeren and Bjergsen were two of the top players in North America last season and it will be interesting to see what Immortals can do to counter their effectiveness.

Immortals will miss WildTurtle, who was on its roster last year, but lost significantly better talent as well. Huni’s talent drew the attention of the best teams in the world and he ended up signing with SK Telecom T1 to replace Duke. Additionally, Reignover joined Team Liquid in the offseason, leaving Immortals without its three best players from 2016. Although Immortals seems to have replaced these team members with young, talented individuals, they will need some time to come together.

Cloud9 -190

Dignitas +150

Cloud9 turned some heads by not only knocking off Immortals to make Worlds last season, but qualifying for the Quarterfinals as well. Last year’s line-up returns pretty much intact with the only real change being Contractz getting brought up the Challenger team to replace Meteos as the Jungler. Impact, Jensen, Sneaky, and Smoothie form a solid core that should guarantee this team a Top Four finish.

Dignitas completely overhauled its roster from last season and its willingness to spend money has made this team one of the favorites to win LCS North America. Being able to bring over Ssumday from Korea was a coup and he should immediately be one of the best Top Laners in the region. Holding onto Keane and Xpecial after acquiring Apex Gaming’s roster was another clutch move and should make this a team to reckon with.
