SK Telecom T1 -160
KT Rolster +135

There’s no doubt that these are the two best teams in Korea. Coming into the season, there was talk of a big three in Korea following Samsung Galaxy’s runner-up performance at Worlds, but that quickly disappeared after Samsung was thrashed by both SKT and KT Rolster earlier in the split.

SKT has made some changes of its own to its roster after needing the full five games to defeat both ROX Tigers and Samsung at Worlds last season. Faker continues to dominate the mid-lane and leads Korea in kills at the midway point of the season and even more impressively has a fantastic KDA despite his aggressive style of play. His skill gives SKT the versatility to play in a number of different ways as they can either funnel everything through mid-lane and rely on him to carry the way or ask him to hold down his lane depending on the opposing team’s composition.

SKT buoyed him this split with the addition of the player many consider the best jungler in the world, Peanut. Peanut was the star jungler of ROX last season and SKT decided to add him after he continually got the better of Bengi during the domestic season. Peanut hasn’t put up the gaudy numbers that he did last season, but is continuing to learn how to play with this squad. He and Faker are a devastating combination along with Huni in the top-lane and will be difficult to stop.

The one team that has the best chance against them is KT Rolster. Rolster signed the best top-laner in the world in Smeb, the best player on ROX last year, and surrounded him with a roster dripping with talent. Somewhat surprisingly, Smeb hasn’t been at his best this season, with a KDA of just 3.6, but has come through when it has mattered.

More impressive has been the play of Deft. Deft has been adept at not dying, succumbing to the Grim Reaper 18 times in 17 matches, and has the best KDA of any starter in Korea by a wide margin. Deft and Mata have been a fantastic duo in the bottom lane and their play has led to plenty of victories.

The meta between these two teams is going to be fascinating to watch. Rolster’s mid-laner PawN has been great so far in league play and they will likely ask him to stall out the mid-lane with Faker and try to win the match through the bottom lane. There they have an advantage over Bang and Wolf that they can exploit. As for SKT, don’t be surprised if they use this match to test Huni in the top-lane. He has feasted on opposing top-laners all season, but Smeb is a different animal. If Huni can fight Smeb to a draw, that is a great sign for SKT.
