League of Legends EU LCS Week Eight Betting Preview

2018-eSports-Coverage-preview-Betting-Odds

This is the penultimate week for the EU LCS Spring Split and everyone is still in position to make the playoffs. Six of the ten teams will make it to the playoffs and only two spots look sewn up at this point. G2 and Fnatic needed some time to get going, but they have looked like the top two teams in Europe over the last month.

A new patch brings plenty of changes too. Patch 8.4 has changed things up in a way that few patches have before. Teams are no longer able to turtle and stall out games with the buffs to Elder Dragon, Baron Nashor, and Banner of Command, rewarding aggressive teams who like to go on the attack early. That makes the jungle position even more important than it was before.

League of Legends EU LCS Week Eight Betting Odds

Team Vitality -160 Unicorns of Love +135

Vitality are no longer looking like the force they were at the start of the split, but they are still a pretty solid team. Last week, Vitality gave Fnatic all it could handle with Jiizuke consistently outplaying Caps in the mid lane. It wasn’t enough for them to get the win, but they made the best team in the EU work for it.

The problem that Vitality has in this meta is that they have one of the worst junglers in the EU. Gilius has not had a good split and he will be going against one of the top junglers in Unicorns of Love’s Kold. UOL has really turned it around in recent weeks and they have now won four matches in a row after an awful start to the season. There is good value in the Unicorns at this price.

FC Schalke 04 -125 Giants Gaming +105

It feels like Schalke should be better than their record. Schalke was lurking in the mid-tier of the table until recently, when H2K and Unicorns of Love rose from the ashes to start winning games.

There’s a reason they are favored over a team that has a better record than they do. Pride is one of the top junglers in Europe and has been fantastic on Sejuani, Kha’Zix, and Skarner. Djoko, Giants’ jungler, hasn’t performed so well. He has not been as good on Sejuani and was less than impressive on the suddenly popular Olaf. That will lead to a Schalke victory.

G2 -285 H2K +235

The Kings of Europe looked a little shaky last week. Despite having solid drafts, G2 was outkilled in both games and they nearly went 0-2 as a result. Like good teams do though, they rallied with their backs against the wall. G2 was down 12k gold to Giants in one of their matches, but came back and picked up the win after a great play around Baron by Jankos.

That being said, it’s hard to back them as such big favorites after their performance last week. They were questionable in their first games on Patch 8.4 and that’s definitely a cause for concern. However, H2K has the worst jungle play in the EU.

Fnatic -240 ROCCAT +200

Like G2, Fnatic really struggled last week. They were outkilled in both of their matches as Caps’ rollercoaster of a season continued. This is a meta that suits their team really well though. Broxah loves to invade and use early game aggression to his team’s advantage, and Rekkles is one of the most aggressive AD Carries in the world. I can’t see them struggling for a second straight week, so look for them to beat ROCCAT in under 30 minutes.
