IS SK TELECOM T1 VULNERABLE?

The question is being asked after SKT was routed by Samsung Galaxy this week. SKT looked completely out of sorts in the series, losing both games at the half-hour mark. The losses once again made Samsung look like a force to be reckoned with.

However, it’s important to take into account that Samsung had some massive advantages before this game. SKT was exhausted after their run through MSI. The team had little time to recharge their batteries after spending a few weeks in Brazil and fatigue was certainly a factor.

Perhaps more importantly, SKT has not had much time to play on Patch Version 7.10. The tournament was played on Patch Version 7.8 and there have been a lot of changes to both characters and the overall gameplay. Whereas Samsung has had plenty of time to practice and adjust to both 7.9 and 7.10, SKT was behind the curve.

You can be sure that SKT will be ready the next time they step on the stage. They will learn from their loss and adapt to the meta like they always have.

PATCH UPDATES

The most important of the changes was the updates to the Rift Herald. No team really prioritized the under 20-minute objective and the only real reason it was taken in the past was if your team was in control of the game and had nothing else to take.

In 7.9, Riot completely changed the early game meta by making the Rift Herald a creature you could summon. Teams have used it in order to siege turrets early and Samsung was able to completely destroy the mid-lane with it. Lesser teams haven’t been as effective with it, but teams have already started to prioritize it and it will be used more efficiently in the future.

Zac is a permanent ban now. The jungle champion was given a boost to his stats in 7.10, but it was a little too much. He is the most overpowered character in the game and was banned throughout the first four games.

When Longzhu Gaming and bbq Olivers went to a decisive Game 3 yesterday, we saw exactly why Zac is kept off the rift. Cuzz went 4-0-8 on the champion and almost single-handedly won the game for Longzhu. Nerfs are coming on Patch 7.11, but until then Zac should be banned.

Galio and Twitch are somewhat overpowered as well, but only certain players have been good at using them. Bang showed how Twitch can take over a game and will be banned from playing him, while MSI proved how useful Galio can be.

HOW GOOD IS LONGZHU?

Longzhu has been hyped since the start of 2016 and has consistently disappointed fans. They were one of the original superteams but never developed the chemistry needed to win against elite competition.

During the break, the talk was about how there was internal dissension in the Longzhu camp. The team cut ties with three of their five starters from the Spring Split and only kept the bottom lane duo of GorillA and Pray in place.

Those changes have paid off handsomely thus far. BDD has been fantastic in the mid-lane, trouncing Pawn in Longzhu’s upset win over KT Rolster. Khan and Cuzz have been solid in their roles as well. This team might fall back down to Earth soon, but they put to bed the concerns that they were a candidate for relegation.
