LCS Europe Summer Split Playoffs Betting Preview

2017-eSports-Coverage-Betting-Lines

The kings of Europe are still alive. G2 was pushed to the brink by Splyce in the quarterfinals last week, but managed to pull out the win after a gutty performance in Game 5. In the other quarterfinals series, Misfits stunned Unicorns of Love 3-0 and sent the runners-up of Spring Split crashing out of the playoffs. Misfits was an underdog in the series but quickly looked like the better team thanks to a dominant mid-lane and a better understanding of the current meta. They are massive underdogs once again, but this time they are facing the team that was the best team in Summer Split.

Fnatic -500

Misfits +333

Misfits was clearly the better team against Unicorns of Love last week as PowerOfEvil made a case that he was the best mid-laner in Europe. PowerOfEvil totally outplayed UoL’s Exileh in the mid-lane and ended up with a 10.8 KDA over the three games in the series. He used three different champions in the series and his most impressive performance was on the marksman Lucian in Game 2. PowerOfEvil got multiple solo kills on Exileh on the champion and his dominance led to an easy Misfits win.

Fnatic will have to be wary of Maxlore’s picks in the jungle. Maxlore played a standard Zac in the first game against Misfits, but then used off-meta picks like Poppy and Kayn in the last two games of the series. He ended the series with a 41 KDA as he only died once and was able to consistently help in team fights.

In the regular season, Fnatic was clearly the better team. They won all four meetings and swept Misfits 2-0 in both series as Caps dominated PowerOfEvil in the mid-lane. That dominance in the mid-lane should give Misfits cause for concern.

Misfits will have their hands full in the bottom lane too. You may not like him, but Rekkles is the best AD Carry in Europe. He had an insane 11.6 KDA this season and also had the second-best CS in Europe as well. He is legendary on his trademark Kennen, but has proved to be great on Tristana and Ashe too.

Fnatic won’t make the same mistake that UoL did in the Quarterfinals. UoL let Misfits AD Carry Hans Sama use Tristana in all three games and he was able to control the action while staying out of trouble with rocket jumps. Fnatic is too smart to let that happen, or will have a counter ready, and will win this series either 3-0 or 3-1.

G2 -175

H2K +125

If it wasn’t for mithy, G2 would not be here. Against Splyce, mithy was able to turn the tide of fights in a number of ways and was named the MVP of the series at the end. He was selected as the best Support player in EU during Summer Split and is much better than his counterpart for H2K, Chei. If H2K allows mithy to get on his signature Tahm Kench, they will be in trouble.

The mid-lane battle here should be phenomenal. Perkz really struggled against Splyce in the Quarterfinals and now has to face Febiven, the player who was chosen as the best mid-laner in the Summer Split. Febiven put H2K on his back more than once and was sublime on Orianna and Lucian. G2 needs Perkz to play well in order to win this series, but Febiven won’t be easy to best.

While some EU junglers have struggled with how best to use Zac, Jankos knows how to play him the right way. He had a 9.6 KDA on Zac in Summer Split and that was his most favored champion. It seems likely that G2 will keep Zac out of Jankos’ hands the entire series, but then Jankos will be able to jump onto Elise as Trick has struggled on the champion. Trick has really struggled with this meta, so look for H2K to prioritize jungle champions in the draft in order to give Jankos a definitive advantage.

G2 is the favorite here on name alone. H2K has been the better team this split and getting them as an underdog is a bonus. H2K will win this series 3-1.
