LCS Europe Summer Split Playoffs Betting Preview

eSports-Coverage-bm-08-18

The EU LCS Summer Split Quarterfinals are upon us and the defending champions are in danger of losing their crown. G2 have been the kings of Europe for the last three seasons, but limped through this regular season split. The team’s failures in international play seemed to have had a lingering effect as they had some chemistry issues during the Summer Split and finished with an 8-5 record. Now, they will have to win three straight series in order to win their fourth straight domestic title and continue to call themselves the kings of Europe.

Unicorns of Love -1.5 -110 -240
Misfits +1.5 -110 +200

Fear Our Horns! Unicorns of Love may have disappointingly choked away a chance to get a first-round bye with a loss to lowly Vitality in the last week of the season, but they are one of the teams to beat in Europe. UoL made the Spring Split Finals before falling to G2 last season and looked like the best team in Europe during Rift Rivals.

UoL have a lot of talent, but the Achilles heel all season has been its mid-laner Exileh. It’s rare for a mid-laner to be a team’s weak link as generally that is the most talented player on the team. However, Exileh continually struggles with the top mid-laners in Europe and that has kept UoL from winning a domestic title.

PowerOfEvil got the better of him in the mid-lane during their three-game series earlier this split and he dominated Exileh in the one game that Misfits won.

Even though Vizicsacsi is considered one of the better top-laners in Europe, Alphari mostly outperformed him last time too. Alphari is somewhat underrated and doesn’t always get the credit he deserves, but played on three very different champions successfully against UoL last time.

Xerxe give UoL a big advantage in Jungle. Although he wasn’t as dominant as he was during the spring, he is still either the best or second-best Jungler in Europe. His Kindred pick was a flop last time he played against Misfits, but he is a much better player than Maxlore.

The bottom lane is a big advantage for UoL too. Hans Sama has been a decent AD Carry, but the duo of Samux and Hylissang is superior. These two have a natural chemistry and UoL was able to best Misfits last time by turning Samux into a hypercarry and winning in the late game.

Misfits is good enough to keep this close, but Unicorns of Love will get the win. Misfits will take it to a decisive final game though so bet Misfits +1.5 games.

G2 -1.5 -140 -275
Splyce +1.5 +120 +230

G2 made quick work of Splyce the one time they played this split, sweeping them 2-0. The first game was a slow, calculated grind where G2 only had four deaths as Perkz and Zven dominated. The second game was one of the fastest games in Europe all season long as G2 scored 23 kills in less than 24 minutes of action in a totally one-sided affair.

It was total dominance from the side of G2 last time and they have the advantage in virtually every spot. Perkz is miles better than Sencux in the mid-lane and Zven is a better AD Carry than Kobbe. The KDA stats show these teams as much closer than they are because of how much G2 struggled in the early season.

The one hope that Splyce has is to have their Jungler totally outperform G2’s. Trashy is one of the better Junglers in Europe and was much better than Trick was this split. Trick got destroyed against Roccat last week and that’s concerning to see right before the playoffs.

Look for G2 to get the win because of their superior talent. Although the team has had some issues, they will come together when it matters and move on to the semifinals.
