G2 has looked like the best team in Europe throughout the Spring Split, but is definitely vulnerable. With a chance to secure an undefeated regular season, G2 lost to a resurgent ROCCAT which nearly led to Fnatic missing the playoffs. They are still the favorites to claim the Spring Split title, but don’t count out Fnatic. In the other bout, Unicorns of Love brings their hectic style to the rift once again in a showdown with Misfits. The winners of these matches will meet next week with a trip to the Mid-Season Invitational in Rio on the line.

This G2 team was 12-0 until the loss to ROCCAT in their season finale, but won the rubber game in a number of three-game series to be unsullied for so long. H2K and Splyce both took G2 to a third game in their one match against the defending European champs, while Misfits and Fnatic each took G2 to a third game in both series.
Although there are no weak links on G2, the bottom lane is where Fnatic may be able to succeed. The combination of Zven and mithy can outduel most squads but Rekkles and Jesiz are perhaps the best bottom lane duo in Europe. In particular, the damage that Rekkles can deal can be absurd. G2 need their duo to hold their own against Fnatic in this lane.
Fnatic has looked like a completely different team in recent weeks. Although they finished the season at 6-7, they changed their playstyle to center around Caps in the mid-lane with their postseason hopes on the line and he has delivered in a big way. He was one of the team’s focal points in their stunning 3-0 sweep of H2K and the way in which he outdueled Febiven was impressive.
Where Fnatic must watch out is in the top lane. sOAZ is a decent top laner, but Expect is without question the best in Europe. While Expect has a 4.6 KDA, sOAZ actually registered more deaths than kills during Spring. Look for jungler Broxah to have to help sOAZ in the top lane often.

Misfits beat Unicorns of Love 2-1 in the one series where these teams met this season and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this series go all five games. UoL has an extremely frenetic style of play with highlight reel plays mixed in with boneheaded decisions. Rather than play a composed, measured game all too often they try to go for the spectacular move rather than the safe, logical one. We’ll have to see if that changes in the playoffs.
There’s no doubt that UoL must stop PowerOfEvil in the mid lane. PowerOfEvil was able to carry his entire team at times during the regular season and he was who Misfits leaned on after falling behind 0-2 to Splyce in their first-round playoff matchup. After his performances on LeBlanc in the last two matches, you have to figure that Misfits will ban the champion outright rather than risk handing her over to POE.
Look for the jungler battle to be huge in this series. Xerxe of UoL and KaKAO of Misfits were the two best junglers in the regular season and were fantastic at rotating lanes in order to set up ganks for their teammates. This will be Xerxe’s first time in the postseason, while KaKAO is in his fifth season of doing this professionally. Ivern should be banned by Misfits, so Xerxe will likely have to win this matchup without his favorite champion.
