eSports Odds - The wave of the future

2016-eSports-Update-Odds-and-Lines

There are only three weeks left of the Summer Split left in League of Legends Korea and the best teams in the world are starting to make their push. SK Telecom T1 again looks like the best team in the league, but can anyone knock them out and make a push to be considered the best in the world? That’s what we’re beginning to find out.

Jin Air Green Wings -175

Longzhu Gaming +145

It’s been a disaster for Jin Air lately. This team has now lost seven straight matches after a promising start and its playoff hopes that once were bright are all but extinguished. Jin Air dispatched of Longzhu in Week 1 of the season, but is still running the same strategy while most other teams have adapted. One of the factors behind this collapse has been the disappointing play of Pilot, who started the season strong, but has been trying to solo too much and is putting the team in disadvantageous positions.

Things are looking up for Longzhu. Just two weeks ago, Longzhu looked like one of the teams that was a lock for relegation, but the side has now won two of its last three games. It is two games in the loss column behind ESC Ever, and things are still bleak, but a win here would help immensely in its fight to avoid relegation. Fury has played well as the ADC for Longzhu, but the team that was thought to be a playoff contender has failed to come together during the Summer Split. Still, it’s playing much better than it did while Jin Air is in freefall mode.

SK Telecom T1 -900

Afreeca Freecs +500

Another week and another article about SKT’s dominance. SKT is the undisputed best team in the world and although it had a hiccup in the middle of the season, is once again playing like the top team in the world. SKT has trounced all three of the next best teams in the league, after an upset loss to ESC Ever at the end of June. Bang has the best KDA ratio in all of Korea at this point and often gets overlooked on a star-studded team. His play has been great though and has been a big part of SKT’s success.

Afreeca is currently holding onto the final playoff spot after a win against MVP last Friday. AF holds the tiebreaker as well since it is 2-0 against currently sixth place MVP. The side that rallied to make the Spring Playoffs has been a bit of an enigma this season, losing to ESC Ever twice while knocking off both SKT and KT Rolster. Knocking off SKT twice in one season is a tough ask, but AF is in a good place in the standings if it loses.

MVP -140

ESC Ever +110

MVP is on the outside looking in at this point after losing twice to AF, but still has hope to usurp them for the last playoff spot. MVP has played well for a relatively new squad looking to become a name in LCK and should take pride in its finish this season. Max has been one of the better Support players this season and has been one of the pillars this season.

The mission for ESC Ever is clear at this point, avoid a relegation battle. Ever plays three of the best teams over the next two weeks and MVP is its only hope for a win so this one is critical. The good news is Ever gets a bit of a reprieve in its last week of the season, facing CJ Entus and Jin Air in what could be two wins. LokeN got into a bit of hot water after being accused of account fraud, but has been able to play this season and that has been crucial for an ESC Ever team just looking to stay afloat.
