eSports Odds - League of Legends World Championships First Round Betting Preview

2016-eSports-Odds-Update-Bet-Online

The second half of the LoL group stages kicked off on Thursday night and by early Monday morning, we will have the eight teams that will represent their respective regions in Chicago. ROX Tigers and Albus NoX Luna have already punched their tickets and now the question is which other teams will be joining them in the Windy City.

Team SoloMid -138

Samsung Galaxy +100

This line is very interesting. TSM absolutely dominated Samsung last week, only giving up one death in the entire match, but the North American champs are only short favorites here. Perhaps that’s because of the great respect given to Korean teams but it could also be that the oddsmakers don’t fully believe in this TSM squad to win yet.

TSM will have to rely heavily on Bjergsen to win here. Although Svenskeren has been great as a jungler as well, he will be matched against a fantastic jungler in Ambition, so TSM has to find another mismatch to exploit. Bjergsen has a CS per minute that’s close enough to 10 and has an extremely impressive KDA of 5.7. He should be able to carry the day against Crown in the middle.

Royal Never Give Up -600

Splyce +350

Poor Splyce. This team was already behind the eight ball in the Group of Death and are sitting at 0-3 despite giving all three of their opponents runs for their money. Although there have been questionable plays at times and they haven’t been able to close out games once taking the lead, that speaks more to the caliber of their opponents than any failure on Splyce’s end.

RNGU should absolutely roll here. This side had some big question marks to answer in this tournament and so far have responded with aplomb. Mata and Mlxg have been a devastating dup and Uzi has performed amazingly as well as an ADC. Splyce needs to win this one to avoid being bounced, but just doesn’t have the talent necessary to do it.

SK Telecom T1 -400

Flash Wolves +275

The fourth time is the charm right? Flash Wolves dominance of SKT is reaching legendary status at this point. The Wolves beat SKT both times at the Mid-Season Invitational and after an 0-2 start beat SKT again to keep their hopes of reaching the Quarterfinals alive. A bold pick of Aurelion Sol carried Flash Wolves to a dominant win.

At this point, it’s hard to bet against the Flash Wolves, especially at this price. Even if SKT bans Aurelion Sol, which they will do, Flash has proven time and time again that it has SKT’s number and will find a way to triumph over the defending champions.

Cloud9 -138

I May +100

I May has had some trouble early on at Worlds, but it’s all issues that they can overcome. There have been poor strategy decisions and communication thus far, yet these things aren’t hard to fix. They are a talented side and should be performing better than they are.

Cloud9 is going to have a lot of support from the North American crowd, but although they have been strong to close out the summer, they are overvalued by the oddsmakers. Cloud9 was the beneficiary of some poor play from I May last time, but that won’t happen in their second meeting.
