eSports Odds - League of Legends Championship Preview

eSports-Update-bm-jn

We are down to the final week or two of the League of Legends continental championships and many of the teams left are competing for a chance to go to Worlds. Korea’s spots are spoken for at this point, but North America and Europe still have spots up for grabs. The big question is which Korean team will be the first not named SK Telecom T1 to claim the Champions Korea title, while North America and Europe are still in the process of determining which teams will make it to the finals.

ROX Tigers -340
KT Rolster +270

The time has finally come for ROX to show what it’s made of. The team that has always been the bridesmaid and never the bride finally has the chance to shine with SKT out of the way and can grab a long-awaited major championship. A ROX win means that Smeb can lay claim to the title of best player in the world and with two wins over KT Rolster already this season, ROX is the deserved favorite.

Can KT Rolster make history and knock off the two powerhouses in Korea? KT Rolster finally got the monkey off its back against SKT last week with a reverse sweep that put the team in the Finals, but ROX matches up really well with KT’s strengths. Ssumday is one of the top players in the world but will be matched against Smeb in the top lane and that’s a match-up he has struggled to win in the past.

Splyce -122
H2K -108

Splyce received an automatic berth into the semi-finals after finishing second in Europe LCS over the summer, but matching up with H2K at this point is a tough draw. Unlke the other two continents, there isn’t much talent difference between the top tier and the second tier and Splyce may close as an underdog based on how well H2K has been playing over the last couple weeks.

The last team to beat H2K was Splyce, but the team has been pretty solid as of late. Wins over UoL and Fnatic showed the team was coming together before the playoffs and H2K then routed Fnatic 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the playoffs to get everyone’s attention. Few teams are playing as well as they are now.

G2 -555
Unicorns of Love +355

G2 established itself as the best team in Europe this season for good reason. G2 didn’t drop a game all season long, but did register eight draws because of Europe’s weird best of two regular season format. The squad is led by Zven, who has the highest KDA and CS per minute in Europe.

UoL beat Giants 3-1 to get to this stage, but the squad has been erratic all season long. It’s almost impossible to put any sort of confidence in what results to expect with them, but against an undefeated team the inconsistency will be its cause of death.

Team SoloMid -555
CLG +380

The biggest rivals in North America always seem destined to square off, but although TSM is favored, CLG has got the upper hand on this team the last two playoffs. TSM was dominant through the regular season, going 17-1 and only dropping six rounds, but CLG will give this squad a game no matter its record heading in.

CLG limped into the playoffs after a 10-8 record and looked far removed from the back-to-back champions that the brand is. There has been continuing drama building between CLG and TSM all season long and it could boil over in a bad way.

Immortals -300
Cloud9 +240

Immortals would have finished the season undefeated had TSM not been in the league, but instead had to settle for a 16-2 mark. The squad has featured great team play thanks to the support of Adrian and Reignover. Adrian led all players with 458 assists while Reignover was fifth in the league, and first among non-support players. Their style of team play is iconic of how good they all fit together.

Two-time league champion Cloud9 has something to say about Immortals getting to the finals, but hasn’t fared well against Immortals this season. This team has the potential to pull an upset, but can and will are two different things.

eSports Odds:

ROX -340
Splyce -122
G2 -555
CLG +380
Immortals -300
