CS:GO DreamHack Winter 2016 Betting Odds - Can Mathias Lauridsen and Dignitas win DreamHack Winter 2016

eSports-Update-bm

The CS:GO season is winding to a close and the last DreamHack premier event of the year will take place this weekend in Jonkoping, Sweden. There are eight teams vying for glory in one of the final events of the season and a win here can give one of these sides confidence heading into next year. Who will take down the $50,000 first prize and who will be left telling their fans to wait until 2017?

Dignitas is the favorite heading into the tournament even though the Danish side has notched just one win and one second-place finish in premier events this season, but has looked strong recently. The win at EPICENTER 2016 over Virtus was the squad’s first big win at a premier event in almost two and a half years and they looked great in the ELeague group stages as well.

Dignitas defeated both EnVyUs and Fnatic to win Group D and make the quarterfinals of the tournament with the biggest prize pool this season and MSL’s play was a big reason why. His callouts have been superb as of late and the team mopped the floor with a solid Fnatic squad due to his leadership. In a game like CS:GO, where there are no respawns during a round, callouts and a solid strategy are key and MSL has been one of the elite players in the world.

Many people might be surprised that neither of the North American teams, Cloud9 and OpTic, are the favorites. Cloud9 shocked almost everyone by knocking off the best team in the world, SK Gaming, on its home turf in Brazil a month ago for the ESL Pro League Season 4 title. It was a historic win for the side and locked in Cloud9’s spot in the Esports Champion Series Season 2 Finals in Anaheim in two weeks.

Stewie2K might only be 18, but he is the In-game leader for Cloud9 and has been one of the top Riflers on the North American circuit. As he has improved, so had Cloud9, and he is now a big part of their success.

OpTic might be an even bigger surprise at their odds. OpTic was in the same group as Dignitas in ELeague but the two sides never got a chance to square off after OpTic dropped its first match to Fnatic and was sent to the loser’s bracket.

Two weeks ago, OpTic bested some of the top teams in Montreal and although this team has struggled against top tier competition, like Dignitas and Cloud, it has proven it belongs on stage with those teams. In the current era of CS:GO where there is a lot of parity, grabbing OpTic at these odds could be a steal.

If you’re looking for a longshot to put your money on, Renegades may not be a bad option. Although the Australians have yet to win a tournament, they have been competitive and took a game off of Faze in the iBUYPOWER Masters two weeks ago. It’s highly unlikely they are able to pull it off when it’s all said and done, but at 50-1 it’s not a bad bet.

eLeague Season 2 Championship Betting Odds:

OpTic Gaming +450
Renegades +5000
