The third premier CS:GO tournament of the year is upon us. The first DreamHack tournament of the year is going to bring together the best CS:GO teams from around the world. Astralis is the favorite by virtue of winning two of the last three premier tournaments, but there are plenty of teams capable of knocking off the Danes. Most of their top competition consists of other European teams, but all but the last longshots can win this tournament. Who will emerge victorious and take home the $200,000 first prize?

Astralis is feeling pretty good about themselves right now. They won the ELeague Major in Atlanta a couple weeks back and grabbed a cool $500,000 for their efforts. However, despite the impressive wins, this team is far from invincible. At ELeague, Astralis barely made it to the Quarterfinals following losses to GODSENT and SK Gaming in the preliminary rounds. The loss against GODSENT was particularly bad with Astralis losing on red side 12 to 3 on Train, all but sealing their fate when the map switched over.

Additionally, in the championship round they had to squeak out 16-14 wins over Virtus Pro on Overpass and Train in order to win the whole tournament. There’s no doubt that this team is talented, but the gap between Astralis and everyone else isn’t large enough to make them this big of a favorite. If you’re interested in betting on Astralis you’d be better off backing them on a match by match basis.

Virtus Pro is one of the contenders and at almost double the price as Astralis is a much more lucrative bet. Virtus placed third at the World Electronic Sports Games in early January and their second-place finish at ELeague further announced how talented they are.

During ELeague, Virtus knocked off Optic, G2, Gambit, North, and SK Gaming before being tripped up by Astralis. The loss to Astralis came as a shock as Virtus led the decisive third match 13-7, but dropped 9 of the last 10 rounds to not win the title. Even though they failed to win, Virtus was the most dominant team throughout the tournament and it’s a little surprising to see them as the fourth favorite here. This is a great bet considering their recent play.

Natus Vincere is the second favorite in this tournament by virtue of their group draw. FaZe Clan lost one of its top players, aizy, to North, and mousesports just shook up its lineup as well by replacing chrisJ with oskar. That makes Natus Vincere the most stable team in the group and the one most likely to win it as well.

If you’re looking for a longshot to play, take a long look at Ninjas in Pyjamas. This is one of the most veteran teams in CS:GO with four of their five members having been on the roster since 2012. NiP should make it out of the group stage but the odds on them are long after disappointing performances at ESL Cologne 2016 and Eleague. The Swedes won three premier tournaments last season and to count them out so early this year is a mistake.
