The European representative at the Mid-Season Invitational will be determined this week. Long-time rivals G2 Esports and Fnatic are set to square off in the semifinals on Saturday, and the winner will face Rogue for the LEC Spring Split Championship on Sunday.Fnatic are the clear favorites after knocking off G2 Esports in the Winners’ Bracket two weeks ago, but G2 looked great last week with sweeps over Team Vitality and Misfits Gaming.

2022 LEC Spring Split Semifinals Betting Odds

Fnatic -194

G2 Esports +150

Fnatic knocked off G2 Esports 3-1 earlier in the playoffs. Humanoid and Upset were too much in the mid game in Game 1, combining for 12 kills and 15 assists with no deaths between them in an easy Fnatic win. G2 bounced back with a strong performance from Brokenblade and Jankos in Game 2, but Fnatic won the next two games in the series. Hylissang proved to be a superb initiator, and Humanoid was the series MVP.

For G2 to turn the tables this time, they need a better performance from the bottom lane. Flakked and Targamas were the newcomers to the roster this year, and the former EU Masters stars have come along nicely. They were sharp in the victories over Misfits Gaming and Team Vitality, and Flakked now leads the team with a 7.6 KDA with three great performances on Jinx. His most played champion has been Aphelios, but he hasn’t been as great on that pick.

The best bottom lane in the LEC belongs to Fnatic. Hylissang is one of the best supports in the world, and he has made things happen for Upset throughout the season. He frequently sacrifices himself to put his AD Carry in good position, and that’s why Upset has a 7.7 KDA this postseason and set a record for fewest deaths and highest KDA in the regular season.

Top lane will be an interesting battle too as long-time G2 top laner Wunder is now representing Fnatic. Wunder has been solid, but not spectacular, throughout the season. He does have a deep champion pool though, and he actually leads the team in damage during the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Brokenblade has shed his reputation as a coinflip player and has mostly been playing very well in the top lane for G2. Brokenblade was excellent on Jax last week, performing split pushing duties very well on the champion in order to keep opponents off balance. He is likely to break out something new this week too.

Former Fnatic mid laner Caps has become the face of G2 along with Jankos. They are the most experienced mid lane-jungle duo in the LEC, and their ability to play together was on display against Vitality. Jankos is at his best in big moments, and he is the most reliable jungler when it comes to smites in the region.

Humanoid broke out onto the scene last year, and Razork made a name for himself two years ago. The two have struggled to find synergy at times, and this is where to attack Fnatic. They stumbled down the stretch in the 3-2 loss to Rogue, and this is the area where G2 can have the greatest success.

These are the two most successful franchises in LEC history. G2 Esports have won eight titles and Fnatic have won seven titles while the rest of Europe has combined to win just three championships. This will be the 17th top three finish for Fnatic, and they will get past G2 for a rematch with Rogue.
