NBA Odds - Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards Game Preview

Eastern-Conference-Semis-2-Game-5-bm

Washington won a pair of blowouts at home to even this series as two games apiece heading into the critical showdown in Boston. The Celtics will likely be favored since they are the higher seed and the home team, but the Wizards have looked like the better team in this series and will be aiming for the upset.

This game is going to have a huge effect on the outcome of this series, as each side would love to advance and face off with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals.

This war on the floor will go down Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 8 p.m. ET at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The game will be televised live on TNT.

We'll have NBA odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the NBA Wednesday schedule.

NBA Odds

The Wizards were five-point favorites in Game 4 and easily covered, rolling to a 121-102 victory. The scoring total was set at 214.5 and the “over” was the correct choice since Washington exploded for the win.

The Wizards improved to 55-37 straight up and 47-44-1 against the spread. Washington has been really impressive at home all year but has struggled on the year, going 20-25-1 against the spread. The Wizards have covered in 18 of 38 games as the underdog this season.

The Celtics are 59-33 straight up and 47-44-1 against the spread as well. Boston has only covered in 20 of 46 home games and is 36-33 against the spread as the favorite on the year.

Last Time Out

The Game 4 matchup was tied at halftime, but the Wizards dominated the third quarter, using a ridiculous 26-0 run to take control. They scored 42 points in the quarter and outscored Boston by 22 points in those 12 minutes alone before cruising to the win.

Bradley Beal led the way with 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting while John Wall added 27 points, 12 assists and five steals. The Celtics got underwhelming games from every one of their starters, so it’s not a surprise to see the Wizards ran away with it.

Player to Watch

Isaiah Thomas -- The formula has been pretty simple thus far. If the Wizards slow down Boston’s star shooting guard, they win. When he turns in a big game, the Celtics win.

Thomas had only 19 points in Game 4 even though he shot 50 percent from the field and 5-of-6 from three-point range. The Wizards did a nice job of hounding him with one or two players when he had the ball, forcing the other Celtics players to beat them. Thomas had only 13 points in Game 3 on three shots.

The Wizards clearly changed up their strategy, as Thomas went off for 33 points in Game 1 and a ridiculous 53 points in Game 2, which both resulted in wins for Boston.

Washington couldn’t hold on to big lead in either of the first two games as the Celtics took early control of the series. However, things are all tied up now and the Wizards seem to be getting a handle on how to play the Celtics.

Washington has the superior depth and it is beginning to show. The Wizards have found a good game plan to slow down Thomas, and the Celtics have yet to find an answer. Even though Washington has struggled on the road this season, that won’t be enough to slow it down in this one.

Take the Wizards in an upset as they aim to take a 3-2 lead in this series heading back to D.C.

NBA Odds: Wizards 104, Celtics 100
